Insensitive Comments!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Something I find helpful when people are passive aggressive, like this woman, who couch their language with things like, "for your own good, you might want to know..." is to ask them, "in what way is that for my own good?" or "why would I want to know that?" <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

It makes them have to defend their questionable behavior. Typically they give you a never mind and get flustered.

If you get someone who will go the step further, "people have complications from this surgery." I keep asking questions like they are the dumbest people on earth, "yeah, they do, and again, you think me and this man are identical?"

There are all kinds of things you can ask. It helps from losing ones temper. Blank face and explain yourself questioning.

Ah........I do love this support group. I find it sad and humorous at the same time that my co-workers (and a few friends) find it difficult to support me in this surgery, and yet I can come here in the comfort of this site and receive support from you all. Thanks! I really want to say f... off to all those passive aggressive people out there. I haven't told my own mother yet cuz I just don't want to hear it! Karen

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair. Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end. That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
