A fill during surgery?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was wondering, when the Doc puts on the lap band, does he also add a bit of Fluid or is it put on and left totally empty till the first fill?

Thanks

Some drs put some in at surgery and some don't. My dr put 3cc in my 10cc band at surgery. I don't think most drs put that much in at surgery because I had been reading this board for a few months before my surgery and I was really suprised when my husband told me he filled my band to 3, and I actually thought my husband misunderstood, but at my post op appointment I found out he really did.

I had some restriction when I first started eating mushies, but it didn't last long at all.

My surgeon just installs the Band and allows it time to heal before adding any solution.

Every six weeks since surgery, I've gotten a fill: .5cc, 1cc, and 1cc, for a total of 2.5cc and I got some real restriction on the last fill!! Still have to be very careful with some things, making sure they are chewed well enough!! :cursing:

My doctor put in three CCs during surgery just to test it and make sure it didn't leak or anything, and that it was placed well etc. Then he took two out. I still had about 1 CC in there. My first fill was 3 CCs. So I have a total of 4. I'll have my 2nd fill on March 5th. He's not aggressive with fills past the initial, so I have no idea what he plans. But I have a 10 CC band, so I still don't have a lot of restriction, but I'm losing anyway. Can't complain about that!

No fill during my surgery. I am scheduled for my first fill on 3/11. I asked during my post-op what to expect. I was told by the physician's assistant to expect 1 maybe 2 cc. I am not sure if I have any real restriction. I am following the rules fairly well. Almost had a p.b. the other night when ate a little to fast. Up until that time, I would have said I wasn't even sure I had a band in place! K

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
