Chicago Bandsters......

Recommended Posts

Chicago -

Holiday season is here and it can be difficult for us bandsters. It would be wonderful to have a get together with other Chicago bandsters for some Soup or light lunch/dinner.

Anyone interested? Email me at shampoosh@gmail.com or reply to this post - let's be a support to each other and gain new friends along the way!

Veteran and newbie bandsters welcome!

Lynn

ANYONE OUT THERE FROM THE NORTHWEST SUBURBS I.E., MT. PROSPECT, ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, ETC.? BANDED ON JAN 28, 2008 AND LOST 32 LBS UP TILL 10/16/08. COULD USE SOME SUPPORT.

I'm in Grayslake ... I could use a buddy, myself! Let me know if you still need someone to talk to.

Kathy5--My name is Cassandra and I am in the Northwest suburbs. I have been banded just over 2 years now. Actually my '2 year bandiversary' was Nov. 20th! I am more than happy to be a source of support. You can always e-mail me at cottonkandy28@hotmail.com, including anyone else out there that may need support! We are all in this together and I am hoping that maybe some of my experience may be able to help someone else!

hi,

i am from des plaines and am in need of support. i have had nothing but problems this year with my band. i have had 2 slips in 4 months. i had my band done at mercy hospital with drs. rosett and bonomo. everytime i have gone to an er for a problem, they are clueless. i have since change to dr. galvani from uic hoping this will be a better choice. still would like to buddy up with some other bandsters around the area or so.

HEY KINS,

I HAD MY SURGERY 8/13/08 AT Alexian Brothers/Suburban SURGICAL CARE CENTER. THEY ARE A BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD BLUE DISTINCTION CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE FOR ALL BARTIATIC SURGERY AND HAVE THE LOWEST FATALITY RATE AND HIGHEST SUCCESS RATE IN THE ILLINOIS AREA. THAT SOLD ME. I USED DR. PETER RANTIS. MY SURGERY DATE WAS 8/13/08 AND SO FAR NO PROBLEMS, IT BEEN A BREEZE. I GET MY FIST FILL 9/11/08. OTHER THAN THE UNUSAL WAIT (IN THE WAITING ROOM) I AM PLEASED. HOPE THIS HELPS.

GOODBODY OUT

Hello,

I am thinking of going to Alexian brothers also..How much was your cost of surgery, and out of pocket cost after the insurance paid for their portion?? I just wanted to know if he is expensive but i live in this area..

Hi all. I live in Montgomery and I too would love to have some buddies in the area. I kinda fell of the wagon over the holiday and I really need to get back on track. Anyone else have this problem?

Hi all,

I am newly banded and live in Edgewater (NE Chicago). Does anyone know of a group in Chicago proper that gets together for support and healthy socializing? I am not out in the burbs very often.

Cheryl

Hi Cheryl - I posted a thread on the IL thread earlier today with the schedule of some up-coming support group meetings. They are mostly in the burbs, but if you can make it, next Wednesday is a strictly LapBand group in Vernon Hills.

I live in Chicago, but work in the burbs so it works out for me okay.

Did you just move to Chicago?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
