I'm not going to even read it! Nothing against you, but I am really trying to keep positive and do what I need to do. There are always going to be people who fail and people who succeed...I really believe that any of us who follow the 'rules' for the lapband and do what we know we need to do will be successful and can stay successful. We all knew going into this that it is possible to cheat or eat around the band and gain weight. Don't let stuff like that discourage you, stay on course and you will get there.

I have slimed on occasion, and PB'd 2-3 times in my 22 months of being banded. I have screwed up---not the band! But on a daily basis? No way! I would be camped out on my Dr.'s doorstep until I got the help I needed! Furthermore I have faith in both my surgeon and the Dr. I use for fills, that they would neither one allow that to be the case either.

I had to kind of laugh, I was eating an orange as I read through the posts---to see how they could not eat fruits or veggies!!! For lunch I had a salad!!!

To have had a band for 10 years, they were a guinea pig so to speak. Like I say I am only 22 months out, and they have even made strides in that length of time in improving the way they do the band, and even in the band itself. One of the major advantages of banding, is the fact that I can have one of the newer bands if I opt to at any time, this is not permanent if I choose it not to be. They did not remove anything! They did not cut my stomach!

Imagine how YouTube could be flooded with the boring stories of all of us who have the band now and are thrilled with it!!! Would get kind of monotonous watching all the videos showing thinnner, healthier people saying how now they do not take all the prescription meds they used to, and they can exercise without joint pain, and cross their legs, and buy clothes anywhere....because there are LOTS of us with those experiences!!!

Keep the complications in perspective. If you are worried speak with your Dr.

Was that video catagorized with the "jackass" type videos of stupid things people do then aren't ashamed enough not to share?

I'm shocked that those people are being exploited by their doctor. But like others posted before me, stay positive and advocate for yourself.

and now to be cruel: if you are too stupid to not see your doctor after the first sleep/vomit and if you think that choking on Water until 3pm is regular then maybe, just maybe, you are too stupid to have the lapband.

The fault is on the shoulders of the people you see in the video, not on the band.

Amen girl!!

My doctor requires a visit every three months for the first year and said if ANYTHING like this happened he wanted to see me immediately. They should have talked with thier doctor. I couldn't have gone that long like that.

Oh please...what a bunch of rubbish. Clearly this man has an agenda.

I tend to prefer to get my info from things that tell both sides of the stories...why I liked my surgeon initially...it wasn't all roses...he was real about the entire thing.

Read this board and you'll get a good cross section of the good and bad.

Best of luck.

Lorraine

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
