I'm Looking for a doctor in NJ

Recommended Posts

I was banded in 2005 and I was this doctor's first lap band patient. I felt comfortable having him do the surgery because a rep from the lap band company was going to be in the OR, guiding the surgeon. I never considered the consequences of being his oldest patient (patient with the band the longest). I now have some issues and i feel like he doesn't know how to deal with them.

What i would like is a recommendation for a doctor in NJ, one who has done lots of surgeries and who is willing to listen. I live at the Jersey Shore but will travel if you have a good recommendation.

Thanks for your help

I am in North NJ, and I am scheduled for lap-banding in two weeks. I don't know how far you are willing to travel, but I LOVE the support so far from my surgeon: Dr. Vadim Gritsus at Advanced Surgical Solutions. phone number is 973-696-9050.

Thanks for the help. Luckily i am right in the middle of the state so i can go either north and south. I will look both of those doctors up to see if they are in my insurence plan. I am having the hardest time because my insurence company doesn't list doctors under "bariatric surgeons" so I have to do it the reverse way and find a doctor and then see if they are covered. Thanks again

Hi, I live down the shore as well. I had my surgery in Montclair's Mountainside Hospital in October 2007 by Dr. Karl Strom. He and his associates and office are TERRIFIC. They have great monthly meetings, a terrific dietitian and Dr. Strom has done tons of bariatric surgery (no pun intended.) I highly recommend him. Please e mail me if you need more info. I'm at exit 80 (only Jersey people understand that, lol. It's secret code.)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
