well the doctor wasnt as helpful as i was hoping she said she will refer me for the op on the nhs but not until i have tried all the other options other slimming pills, for god sake i have done at least 15 diets that i can name off the top of my head but she wants me to try more slimming pills so she has perscribed me some food surpressants that i have to try for a month and have a check up in 2 weeks coz of my blood presure then if they dont work she wants to try something else (for at least 3 months at a time each one) then if they dont work she will refer me and then i could be waiting at least 2-3 yrs i know she is only being honest but it felt like she was is just brushing me off to get me out, and i asked her about aftercare if i have it abroad and she still never answered me she started to talk about something else but didnt realise till i got out, but they did off me a dietician last year to help with my weight so cant really see there being a problem can you??? oh well ill try these pills and just keep saving xx

Hi i am booked with Dr Dillemans at the jans az hospital on 7th but he charges 4,400 euro direct with him. The euro rate is so bad I am thinking of changing to Dr Chris, does anyone have a contact number or e mail for him direct. I heard he charges 3,400 if you go direct to him

Hi I have just found his e mail and sent him a request hopefully he will reply tomorrow, I am hoping to go week 5-9 Jan 09 as I am off work that week. I heard he charges 3400 euro if you book direct which is about the same, I am just really tied with dates and need it that week. The exchange rate is terrible at the moment which pushes up the price. Maybe should ask if he is doing any CREDIT CRUNCH OFFERS!!!

Hi

I think they work together at the same hospital, I have just spoken to Fredrick Dr De Bryunes PA and he said he thinks he is booked up that week, and I have already paid for flights, hotel and car hire booked time off work and my stepdaughter has booked time off also to go with me so I think i will just go with Dr Dillemans, just with the euro rate so bad it is costing me nearly £4000 just for surgery and if I could have changed doctor and got it for £3000 I would have leapt at the chance, also I have just found out that Dr de Bryune comes to Ireland for fills:angry:

Where will you be going for your fills then? if the dr you are going 2 doesnt go 2 ireland 2 do fills maybe they can sort it for dr chris 2 do them for you when he is over, how much have you paid for car hire? if you dont mind me asking x

I have tried all the diets..I have had the dieticians help too on NHS...I thought that was useless...I just got a list of what I should eat and what I shouldnt....I mean..we all know that anyway dont we?!.I felt so daft..like i should have said..AAAHH, so THATS why Im fat?! I shall mend my ways immediatly now you have told me that!.. I have had reductil xenical and the others..they help for a month or so..but you cant stay on em forever..so I lose 2 stone and then stop em and put 2 stone back on plus another one!..Hope they work for you..Im lucky i have saved up money to go..but my friend at works doctor has said same as yours..she has had all the tablets for a year..lost a stone put 3 on etc etc..and is now being told that she cant be reffered for NHS til she has BMI of 50...so what is she doing now??..she is really going for it risking her health to get fat enough..she is already 20 stone and only 5 feet tall..its just not fair is it..its about time NHS saw it as preventative surgery like they do in America..I went into my doctor saying..I AM having this done..and she didnt get a word in edgeways..and luckily she agreed that diet pills etc dont work longterm, and I was fighting losing battle..and she gave me her blessing...Good luck with the tablets, and hope you get some better support from your doctor next time..Gillian x

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
