Mexico is the best - Down 120 lbs.

:rolleyes2: I had lap band surgery and have lost 120 lbs. I can't say enough good things about my doctors in Mexico... they are so kind, so personable! I've only had three fills and have dodged the diabetes bullet.

with it in Mexico, are followups, fills, etc difficult? are you traveling from far? i'm within an hour of my dr. i have friends that can drive me across the border, but i'm really not familiar with the drs there. they offer to pick me up and drive me across the border though, that seems very considerate on thier part, considering the border can be very hectic for one who doesn't cross.

i understand there is no passport requirement in effect yet if you are traveling on land. only the DL is required, did you need any other forms of ID?

I Had my lap band done in Acuna, Mexico. Dr Jose Rodriguez was my doctor. Had it done a little over a year ago and I've lost 70lbs. My ticker still says 65 but I don't know how to reset it. Anyway Dr. Rodriguez and his staff are great!

Most of the doctors do provide ground transportation services, mine does... all of that was included, plus pre-opt testing, resort hotel for two nights, hospital, interpreter, etc. for just $8,800... about half of what you pay here.

I just got back last weekend from a visit and they didn't say anything about needing a passport... I think they've extended it again for a couple of months. You can cross with just your driver's license.

I had mine in Mexioc also with Dr. Pedro Kuri in TJ Mexico. I was a great expereince.

Passport - I have mine but you don't need one yet. However it is easy to get one. Go to your local post office. Make an appointment and they will do everything for you.

My surgery was a wonderful experience! Good Luck to you and God Bless You!

I've just contacted Dr Corvala's office and they said I could get scheduled by next week. I will probably put it off another week or so due to airline tickets. I've read that you only need a passport if you are flying into Mexico. But, at their office they meet you at the San Diego airport. So, technically I don't think I need a passport yet. Please correct me if you know that I'm wrong. :)

i haven't scheduled mine yet, was concerned about the financing. but now that that is approved i am looking at around the beginning of march or so. i don't want to miss much work, don't want anyone at work to know. i'm truly excited, its been such a long time since i've felt so optimistic about anything

I don't think anything has changed yet, but when I went in October they picked me up at the San Diego airport and crossed over with no problems. On the way back into the states is where they checked my ID.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
