I actually didn't cheat on the pre-op and have followed the four weeks post op to a tee. "Cheating" got me to where I was for many years................ This is just so much bigger than a "taste of this" or "it's only one day". I lived though years of that and the fact of the matter is I'm glad that a lot of that emotional anguish of "do I diet today or not" is a thing of the past. Stay within the guidelines - didn't you make a "contract" with yourself about the rest of your life when you started this process. Honor the contract and yourself. I'm so grateful for this "band" - it has defined guidelines to follow. That I can do!

But remember - everything in life worth having is really worth working for.

Good luck to all...........

Pre-op Apr 19 - 276

Surgery May 5 - 258

4-Weeks Post-Op - 244

I love love love your post!! You are right on the dot- words of wisdom! :)

Tally23 Thank you - it really just puts in perspective how I feel and now 10 weeks post op and down close to 46lbs down, I'm realistic about the commitment and prepared to meet it head on. We CAN all do this, if we want it bad enough.

I have the feeling you do. I wish you every success.

Katie,

I have not started my pre-op diet yet- not till the 30th. I just keep thinking you can do it! I went a week without food in the hospital back in feb. for pancreatitis. Nothing by mouth except Water. Im sure if I can do that I will not have a problem with this.

I agree with you. I have a really good feeling that you're up for this. Keep me posted. The first few days of the pre-op WILL be difficult and for me by day 4-5 the "really hungry" part seemed to ease off. My pre-op was 2 shakes, 1 bar and up to 2 cups steamed veggies at night. And after a week of only Water you know what to expect. Again, I wish you every success.

Katie

I can't imagine cheating....I just feel like I am being tested. Plus - two years ago I was diagnosed with fatty liver and I think my liver probably needs all the prep it can get :)

Plus - it is temporary.... I can do anything for two weeks if you promise me I will ultimately lose weight.

Hello all,

I started my liquid diet today and it is very hard not to cheat esp when my mom made lasagna for dinner. :) But I was strong and didnt. I can’t imagine doing this for two weeks but I am sure that after a couple of days it will get better. I just have to keep thinking what the end result will be. My surgery is scheduled for July 27th. GOOD LUCK to everyone!

Well I can't say I cheated because my surgeon did not have me go on a pre-op liquid diet. I have read where so many people had to do this for one to two weeks. I ate whatever I wanted infact my husband took me on a tour of my favorite restaurants so I could have all my favorite dishes. I only had to do Clear Liquids the day before surgery. My surgeon is one if the top in my area so I know he knows what he is doing. I had my surgery March 30th and have lost 44 lbs. so far with no problems. I was really surprised to see how many people were on liquids for 2 weeks pre-op but then have not lost much weight after the band was inserted.

That gives me something to look forward to! I'm on day 2. I'm hungry and I have no energy. I'm a stay at home mom with 3 kids ages 4 months, 3 years and 9 years. I'm miserable right now:( I can't keep up with them at all but I know it's only temporary.

I'm on day 9, and I'll get weighed in the day after tomorrow. I had to lose 4 lbs, which I thought, "...piece of cake.." GULP Did someone say cake?? Anyway, where was I, oh, and my surgery is a week from today. Yesterday I was down 5.5lbs, I was thrilled, but DH made corned beef for dinner. This morning I'm up 1.5 lbs!! Well, crap...please Lord let it be Water weight.

So of course to make my self feel better...I had two biscottis. *sigh* I guess that means the next day and half will be Protein shakes and veggies and more time on the treadmill. :cursing:

I'm 6 days since my band...I went on a farewell tour of all my favorite sticky foods before my band. Although I did behave myself during the final week before my surgery.

But now that I'm banded, I haven't cheated at all. I'm on liquids until tomorrow and then I'm breakin' out the blender. woot woot.:cursing:

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
