Being over 40 BMI and having other problems like high blood pressure help. I finally got approved when I was put on the diabetes meds. I takes persistence but I got banded yesterday so it was worth the long wait.

Hey could you PM me as well with that information? I was just denied last week and awaiting the letter. I have diabetes and have been on meds for at least 4 years if not more (two kinds, byetta and metformin) and a host of other drugs for other problems. I was really pissed off when I heard that but not surprised since it took them forever to give me an answer. I think I will probably get a lawyer though.

Hi everyone...I was finally approved September 12. I meet with the Surgeon October 2. My surgery date is October 20. My info was put in to insurance mid June.

Now I am nervous. Not nervous of the surgery. Nervous of what comes after. Nervous of not being able to eat anything. Nervous of keeping stuff down. Or trying to get it to go down. What I have read on here don't sound like fun...

Congrats Ruby124,

I am happy for you. After all that and getting approved you can finally concentrate on you and the steps you will take to become a healthier YOU. I had to go on a 2 week pre-op diet. While I thought I would never make it, I did and it mentally prepared me. After the surgery, the "not being able to eat", comes naturally. I am 5 days after surgery and I am starting to feel a little hunger. But I know I made it on the preop so if I get too hungry before my doc visit in 2 weeks for an adjustment I know I made it on that. Everyone is different. Just go day by day and it is a good thing. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

Wow! You just got banded five days ago. Good for you! You will be my mentor...LOL! I hope you are not hurting to much, Neicey!

I guess it is this PB'ing that freaks me out. I wonder...if I do everything right..eat slow...chew incredibly well..does that still happen? Then there is the loose skin...collapsed boobs...That scares the crap out of me.

I weigh about what you weighed...I am really big...but, not flabby. I have a decent amount of muscle from physical work. My boobs are a tight 44DDD. It is hard for me to believe I can lose all of that. A 36D would be luverly....LOL! I am scared of flabby skin where my huge stomach is now. Can my DR. have any idea if I am a candidate for any of that?

Congratulatiuons, Niecey!

So how's everyone doing with the approval process with BCBS of NJ (PPO)??? My info will be submitted in early November and I have a surgery date of November 24th, hoping the approval process is quick.

I have BCBS of NJ. My surgeon would not give me a date without approval first. He put me in for a pre-determinataion. The info was given to insurance in early July. I found out I was approved on Sept 12. My surgery is October 20. I meet with the surgeon tomorrow for my first visit. :(

Well I certainly hope my approval comes back very quickly. They will submit for approval around 11/10 and I have a surgery date two weeks later on 11/24.

I am soooo nervous! My insurance is changing from BCBSNJ to Aetna Jan 1st. and who knows if it will be included or an exclusion in the new policy.

I get the results from my cardiac clearance on Monday. Then everything that has not been submitted to the surgeon will be hopefully by the end of next week. Anyone know how long it takes the surgeons office to submit to the insurance? What is the "dictation" portion I have read about?

I think I wrote mine already. Patience was key...I wasn't very patient.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
