Do you burp more now that you are banded? (non-productive, just air)

Since getting banded, I burp a WHOLE lot. Before banding I pretty much never did. Now pretty much after ever meal I burp. Real big ones. Very unlike me. It feels like they are coming from deep within my stomach. It's like after the last of the food makes it through the band that a massive amount of air escapes or something.

I have had zero complications with the band other than that... I'm not terribly restricted though since I'm losing weight still like this. I will be very happy to keep this as my only complication though... =) It's just... interesting. :)

Can someone please move this post to pre-op, post-op questions? I posted this in the wrong place somehow...

That is what I love about this forum, I was feeling like I was doing something wrong cause I burp or hiccup a lot. I now realize I am normal and no one ever called me normal before!

The hiccups for me are AWFUL! Its like they last forever and they hurt so bad!

Yes I am now a buuuuuurper (excuse me) it seem it never stops I was banded 2/9/09 my first fill is today a little scared.

I have had terrible wind since having my band, everyday i have had to take something to ease it as i was getting awful pain in my shoulder BUT the last couple of days i have eaten a little bit more and hey presto NO WIND, i was on liquids only during the day and having a healthy meal in the eve.. i obviously wasnt eating enough x

I have also noticed, especially lately for some reason, that I have been erupting like a volcano after I eat. You can actually feel the "bubbles" working it's way up then between the burps and hiccups, it's awful. I have been using the GasX strips which seem to work better than the little gel tabs they make. Glad to hear "I'm normal too!"

YES... Big time. I have to burp myself even. After I eat, I have to get up and do something or walk around. Then I burp and I feel content.

It depends on what I have eaten, but I have noticed it more. Sometimes I belch like a truck driver after a huge meal after even the smallest amount of food.

Before surgery I was the burping qeen...now I RARELY ever burp...for me its major gas at the other end... really depend on Gasx!! LOL

Greeneyez...walk, walk and walk some more to move that gas, I layed on my belly too, that helped as well. Good luck...you'll be burping the alphabet in no time at all...lol

My brother called the first real burp he ever heard after I was banded my "frat-boy-beer-drinking-belch". (I guess he can say that since he was a frat boy ;) I don't burp after eating; it's really after drinking anything... Water, Protein water, juice, coffee, tea, etc. (Haven't ever been a soda drinker so those aren't on the list).

I was talking with a friend and I told her I was sometimes embarrassed when I did burp so loudly and really tried to disguise it. Her comment to me, which I had to laugh at, was "honey, I grew up with four brothers and we had belching contests. Be proud of the burp".

I burp tons more now. Sadly I pass gas even more than that!!! :crying: My children think there is something wrong with me. I have to laugh

Im so JEALOUS!!!! I WANT TO BURP TOO!!! :crying: I feel like I have to burp soooooo friggin bad, but it won't come out! I do however continuously get the hiccups, like 4 or 5 after I eat, today I hiccuped alot though.

i left that bit of info out. LOL but since you brought it up 1st....yes i have gas really bad. My hubby tells me all the time...to give him a warning b4 i let one go. And i jus can't help it. Awwww..its awful..but funny!

I was banded on 4/16 and had my first 1cc fill last Thursday 5/28. Before my fill, it always felt like whatevcr I ate was stuck in my throat and I had to burp alot, sometimes bringing up whatever I ate. Now, anything solid gets stuck in my throat/esophagus, and not only do I burp, but there is a production of what I call slime. I'm not sure if this is bile or what. I'm actually thinking of getting an unfil.

Does anyone have any insight?

Thanks!
