hi shortgal,

it is 400 calories because each protein scoop is 70 calories and I use 3 scoops but you could use less scoops for sure. Bare in mind I am only consuming around 500 calories or so a day. Doctor doesn't believe in puree stage, so starting soft stage tomorrow and a

lot less protein powder. Hope you try it.

Thanks Grandmom, sounds way too high in calories for me at my stage, but at only 500 calories a day for you, it sounds like a good thing.

It's not the calories (since that is about all you are having in a day) so much as it is having that much protein in one sitting. Your body cannot use 67 grams of protein at one time or even 1/2 that much. Maybe drinking 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 in the evening would be a better idea. I'm surprised it doesn't make your stomach hurt. Too much protein at one time gives me horrible stomach cramps. But, if your doc knows what you are doing and doesn't have a problem with it then do what works for you. However, if you are eating as well, this would be way too many calories for a protein shake.

Fortunately, doctor said it was ok to take the protein drink for the short time I've been on it because aside from the shake I was only eating 100 calories a day. Preferably 2 drinks would have been ideal but I couldn't get a second drink in. Going in to see doctor in morning and they will get me on a diet where I can now get the majority of protein from food. Still not hungry but hopefully all goes well.
