Have you tried starting with some warm liquid?? Warm/hot Water, coffee, tea?? I've heard that helps.
:D Have you tried something warm in temperature? Cold shakes etc... tighten my band, and mostly early in the day. I have some great high Protein (to get in extra), hot chocolate.

I think there are like 6 "flavors"- not just plain hot chocolate. I love them all, :tt2: Amaretto, raspberry, mocha, classic, mint, ... etc. If you don't know where to find some locally try.... healthyweightsupermarket in Springfield MO. I think they do shipping? :tt2: Good luck.

Thanks but yes I have tried that... I had a whole cup of really warm almost hot Decaf Green tea waited a few minutes then tried to eat and still no luck. It always gets stuck for at least 25 minutes sometimes longer and I then give up on wanting to eat anything until later.:frown:

Cottage cheese has good Protein and has always went down good for me. and peanutbutter is another of the high Protein things my dr sugests for a "snack" to tide you over.

Could it be your not getting enough sleep making you stressed I have heard that will make you tight too.

OK my company just had a HUGE lunchion. with steak baked potatoe and salid and desert. then they gave us these wind breaker jackets.

Real nice, right?

Except I should not of ate that much. and the jacket was not the 5X I had asked for on the list but a 3X

BUT! I figure I should be able to fit into it by the time a windbreaker is able to be worn in this weather. lol

OH and I did not eat all of my potatoe salid or desert.

I did eat the steak. lol Protein right?

Man I need that fill lol

I have had to add extra Protein by drinking Protein Drinks. I have been using 100% whey protein and it's not bad. It helps be feel full and helps keep my calories down.....I am still struggling with the food so I am always looking to see what others are doing for their meals......

smilin_apple, I am not banded yet so I don't know if this will work... but I have a friend who is and was having the same problem. She asked the surgeon's office and a lady that was also banded said that if she kept herself hydrated her band wasn't as tight in the mornings.

So maybe try to drink more Water and see if this works.

That is a thought...I know I sleep on average a good 4 hours straight then maybe another 1-2 hours after I take my daughter to school in the mornings. Maybe I need to try to get to bed a little sooner and see if that makes a difference.

I really like your idea about the fluids....I thought I was drinking enough with the 3 or so bottles of Water plus the Hot tea and Propel...but maybe not...thank you all for the suggesstions I will try some out

Hi guys... I will be band March 20th... my bmi is 61 or 62 the last time I was checked.

My doctor's sec. said I did not have to do any kind of special diet before surgery. Is this unusual? I've only heard recently about the liquid diet before hand.

Where I had my Band done it is unusual...they said if you do either a liquid diet or a 1200 cal a day healthy eating diet before surgery and you lose even a few pounds it helps to shrink your liver so they can do the procedure easier.

Since the telescopic instruments they use to do the Laproscopic surgery are thin it is easier to support your liver to hold it out of the way while they are working on your stomach. I actually got to see them doing a surgery on a video in one of my classes and I could see what they meant about the liver.

hi guys, any thoughts on renaming this thread? something with BMI 50 and over?

i have been completely unfilled ...

i was too tight due to TOM and just general stress (plastics is coming up) and couldnt even hold down liquids. not a good feeling at all. i had to do an unfill for my surgery in 2 weeks (!!!!!) anyway, so i just did it. makes a HUGE difference. i havent been 'hungry', but can definitely eat more. going to stick with low carb and see if that helps if i get hungry.

I've been thinking the same thing... is there a way to change the name of a thread or do you just have to start a new one?? It'd be easier to find with a name change.

I am sorry to hear about you having to be unfilled I hope your plastics go great I cant wait to see some after pictures. Maybe you could PM me to let me know a ball park of what it is costing you for it. I am interested in knowing cost for when I get there. I better save now though. lol

Good luck with the losing the remaining weight! I am so proud of you. Your a big insperation for me.:thumbup:

Well, the forum is for BMI over 50, so I don't see the need to change the title of the thread. Everyone can start their own threads about different BMI over 50 topics and what not, right? Just a thought!

Q> hi guys, any thoughts on renaming this thread? something with BMI 50 and over?

A> I'm all for the name change... I started it... only because I could no longer add to the old thread.. when I saw the "name" I tired to edit it... you can see the edit in my first post only, not in the thread name.

Glad to let someone fix it- it has been bothering me for... well since it started!lol : )

L J Me...Hope all goes well with no fill and PS.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
