Another LapBand Clinic sprung up in T.O.!

Recommended Posts

CIBO

thanks for contacting us.

The cost of the complete package is $18,000. That includes the pre-operative assessments and education, the surgery, the complete post-operative package (one-on-one visits, support, seminars etc.) and unlimited adjustments for life. There is no tax added to this amount and it is tax deductable.

This is a privately funded procedure.

If you have further questions, please feel free to contact me. I know this can be a daunting consideration – I was in that position 7 years ago. I would be happy to talk to you, share my experience and answer your questions.

They have their nerve, charging $2000 more than TLBC and SWLC

They have no experienced staff there in the surgical end. I'd not even waste my time with a consult. I've heard rumors of who the physician might be in the background but so far it's just rumors since they dont' have him listed on their site.

It will be interesting to watch this one go down the toilet!!

Hi Peaches:

Are you going to the luncheon on Jan 20th?

That might be a very good guess since I said He and there's really only one experienced surgeon out there that is no longer affiliated with any clinic.

Like I said it's rumor at this point but a very good rumor. I just can't wait to see the whole place flop to be quite honest. Anyone that would want to be near that man prior to his hearing is insane. Any clinic that would be affilitated with him before the outcome is not a clinic I'd even suggest to anyone looking into banding.

I always tell newbies to check out the 2 big clinics in Toronto but would most definitely tell them to stay the hell away from this one!!

I agree Fousilly. I know that his hearing is not about his surgical skills and yet....

I would not recommend anyone to this clinic either however, there is such demand that they might just do OK.

I'd never say he isn't a good surgeon but lap-band requires way too much aftercare to take our chances on a surgeon that has a pending hearing. If he's found not guilty then by all means, use the man but for now, no way in heck.

Does TLBC have another surgeon yet or is it just Dr. Yau still? SWLC now has 3 lap-band surgeons so with 4 surgeons at least between the 2 big ones, everyone should be able to get done within 4 to 6 weeks. That's not a very long wait for a reputable clinic in my opinion.

I don't think TLBC has another surgeon. Not that I've heard anyway and I do believe the wait is not that long. It all depends on that blasted pre-op diet. :nervous

You're right about the points you make about the new clinic. Can't believe he would even be associated with a clinic before the hearing is completed.

TLBC only has the one doctor at this time, but I am sure they are activley looking for one. I agree with the comments above that I would steer people to either the TLBC or the SWLC basedon my knowledge. As I have no knowledge of the new clinic, I will reserve my opinion. Their doctor at the moment is a physician from Sask. but I don't know of her background.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
