Has anyone negotiated the Lap Band Price?

I was just wondering if anyone out there that is a self pay has negotiated a price for the procedure with the doctor/hospital?

If so, what was the outcome and can you give me any information or form letters that you may have used?

There is a MD in my area that does outpatient lap bands. I've been told that saves some money. I'm going to try to ask for a cash discount. We'll see. I have my MD referral and my first appointment is next week.

It never even occurred to me to do that. I kind of figured the price was set because they have plenty of self-pays that will pay that price. My doc's price is actually really reasonable...I guess that's another reason it didn't cross my mind. Hope you can work something out.

My surgeon has a self-pay lap band price. It's a bigger discount than what he charges the insurance companies. But his includes 1 night in the hospital and 3 months of after-care.

I wouldn't think it's negotiable. A GOOD number of lap band patients are self-pay, so I'd imagine they have a price for that.

I would ask I look and see what my insurance paid and it was less than half of what was billed to the insurance so the doc had to settle for that

My doctor had a discount price for self-pay. Due to having to go for surgery #2 to fix the port, I did negotiate fills. Right now I have free fills/unfills indefinitely. We didn't set a time line on it, but to make up for the extra $2.5k out of pocket, I said, how bout you throw in free fills for a while, and he agreed.
