Terry~ No I haven't been taking ANY Vitamins or anything. I am sooo far off the health wagon, it (the wagon) is parked down the street. I don't know what is wrong w/ me. I'll know in a week if I can get this thing done...and if so, when. Can't wait. Lets just say, after the ultrasound today, it looked like I'd been shot. Sooo embarrassing. Oh well...deal w/ it, it need this done, huh? Gonna take vitamins and Iron daily from here on out. I just put them on the counter so I don't forget. Need to get a fill next Wed and get a B12 shot then too!

Jenn~ Hell yeah! Either way. I am about 120 miles from Disney or would love a house guest. Let me know...we'll be here!

Feel like chatting w/ a violet. Thought about calling someone, but couldn't decide who.

peaceout

TracyK and Janie~

If you guys go to BB Chatter and click on videos, you'll see the VERY LATEST like 10 min ago, videos of what is going on in the Big Brother house. I am loving the Showtime thing, but this is almost better. See if you can find Josh in the hot tub 2 nights ago...omg...he is really cracking!

Pam be very careful if you take iron!!!!! I have been having problems ever since I took the Iron for a few weeks. Just beware of tummy trouble and if you have any signs stop taking it and see if it helps.

I mentioned to my DD that there was a discussion about getting tattoos while in TX. She showed up here this evening, and she come to talk to me about the tattoo!!! She wanted Rick to be here.

Back when I began looking into being banded, she was recently divorced, and she and the baby were living with us. I had researched several Dr.'s, but was going under the assumption at the time that insurance was still going to see the light!

So one day out of the clear blue, I get this email from Mexicali Bariatrics. I knew for a fact I had not signed up for anything from them---I had not looked into going out of the country---as I say I thought insurance would come through.

This started a conversation with my Mom, Manda and I about my Grandma. She had been diagnosed with a form of Luekemia, and was not responding to the type of treatment she was being given. In the end she went with her sister to Mexicali to a clinic there, and received treatment. They remained in Mexicali for 12 weeks. When she come home, she was in remission. This was in her late 40's---I was a baby. She lived til I was in my late 30's. She always spoke of Mexicali like it was this beautiful, wonderful place. It was---it allowed me to grow up with the most awesome Grandma!

So I never saw the website again until 2 days after insurance fell through. I cried those 2 days away. Opened my computer up to another email from them. Manda was home, we opened the site, began scrolling through the pics----and about fell out of our chairs. In their pictures there is one of a very heavy woman in a hospital bed---ladies, that could be me in that picture!!! Everyone kind of freaked out!!!

So, to be very honest, I wondered about Grandma leading me....so I mentioned this Dr. to my original surgeon choice, and he knew him immediately---he had mentored with him in a laproscopic training course. He supported the decision, and spoke with him. So I had my Uncle do some digging. He is an MD, in the states of course....but he found good things too.

I was hesitant about spending the $$$ out of our account, and was being very wishy washy about it. On the 3rd day of my uncertainty of what to do, I got a call from a Mrs. ---------- same last name as my Grandma, who was with Geico insurance, the insurer of the person at fault in the accident that basically cost me my insurance coverage for the band. She made me a cash settlement offer. We all kind of freaked out over the name. I made the call to set the appointment the day I received the check from Geico.

Mexicali, was not what I expected....yet I felt incredibly secure. It was made more so....and I know the eyebrows will go up in question over this...but girls it is true....3 times while there, I found pennies---American pennies (My Grandma is the one who ALWAYS referred to them as pennies from heaven) but the pennies were never alone, they were with a cigarette butt each time! My Grandma smoked like a freight train---but she smoked very particular cigarettes---they were called Parliament. They have a very different filter. It has a hollow place on the tip of the filter with this little baffle type of thing....never knew why....just that it did. Each of the 3 pennies was near a Parliament filter type of cigarette butt!

My DH and my SIL were there to witness it, in fact my SIL found the last one!

I truly believe my Grandma has been with me through this, she would be soooo happy and proud of what I have done. She would have went with me....just to get back to Mexicali!

My Grandma was a woman before her time! She worked as a welder during the war, and was capable of doing most anything. She was not perfect! She married my Grandpa, and had my Mom, and her mother (my great Grandma) lived with them her entire life. When my Mom was a young girl, my Grandma left her family, and moved to California....and lived a wild few years. I have pictures of her partying in a club with Johnny Cash! She eventually come home, and set to making up to her family, and had another daughter. She never judged....anything I did, she supported me!

She loved a good margarita!

Amanda reminded me of all of these things. Her point being---if Grandma was alive, she would go and meet her friends, and she would have a few margaritas, and have a wonderful time, and she likely would have gotten a tattoo!

My Grandma's name was Violet.....

So even if I don't do the tattoo----my DD is. She wants one, a small 1" Violet on her foot or ankle.

She come to tell Rick, that he needs to support me if I want it done. She took us all back through all of these things my Grandma was with me for.....and after all that he listens patiently and he says to her-----I told her to do it! Talk about taking the wind out of someones sails!!!! Was so funny!!!!

Had to share----sorry for the book length post!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENNIFUR!!!!!!!

Good morning violets.

Terri-stupid is definitely a side effect. My sister and my friend were both eaten up with it and now I am too. It is horrible. Like absentmindedness and I cannot stand it!! Beofre my sister found out what was causing hers, she was making an appt w/ a neuroligist cause she just knew she had some kind of brain issue...seriously. Then she found out that it was a side effect from Chantix. She stopped taking them and now she is back to her strait thinking self again. I just need to make sure I am surrounded by angels while I am taking these pills cause there is no telling what will become of me!!

Pam-call me anytime, seriously. That BB video was a hoot. He is definitely losing it. Maybe he is on chantix too!

Have a great day everyone!!!!

Had my hospital shift in the morning, PMS luncheon in the afternoon, picking out new music for my singing group in the evening. That was my "day off". I have Ethan for the rest of the week... oooops, he's arrived so I better scoot for now. BBL...

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
