Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Recommended Posts

Hi violets-sounds like most everyone had a good weekend! Mine was good too. I was able to eat...thank goodness.

Terri-I know the general location your friends house is...LOVE that area!

I have an ulcer in my mouth on the inside of my jaw...right in the middle. OMG, talk about hurt.

Michelle-I live about an hour and a half away from my mom too. I wish we could live closer to one another. I really miss her. I see her every couple of weeks but like you said....would be nice to sit on the porch & have coffee and chat with no time limits!

I can tell I am rambling....I need to go give macy a bath. Have a great night violets!

Hey Violets~

What a great day! It started w/ mein schatz (my treasure) bringing me coffee in bed at 7:45! WOW...I must have needed it! I was really in a lot of pain this morning, both in my tummy and my back. Bad pains in back. Probably from all that sleep. We lounged in bed, watched the news...love that! Then we got up and picked up the dog poop (a favorite weekend passtime:crying:). There is the cutest little humming bird who did a really bad thing. She built her little nest in our wind chime which is about....OH...10 feet from where my doggy sleeps. Klaus is a 140 pound Rottie...who although is the sweetest little guy (he is such a mommy's boy), he tends to like to um, eat all the little birds. I hope he doesn't see the babies...at least until they fly away! Anyway, we cleaned the yard, and then we "played water"...which is his favorite spring, summer, fall passtime! It was 98 degrees here...so he was ready!

We then came in, took showers, I made Breakfast, did some Walden work, then we took a great drive! We went back to that Oak Glen area. We got my step mom all her goodies for Mother's Day, and Susanne's mom a couple of things. This year, we are making little "indulgent baskets" with little treats in them. Kathy, my step mom got some raspberry tea, raspberry candy sweet sticks as stirers, apple crisp Cookies, personalized note cards, and apple butter! I'll put it together in a little basket thingy. She and my dad will be here in the next few weeks.

Laura~ I found a little surprise for you. Something very small, but it screamed you and I couldn't resist. It will be mailed out tomorrow.

Judy~ LOL, no more Kotex for me. Thanks so much for the ecard...that was too cute!

Terry~ Loved the pix. Looks just like Lake Tahoe (south shore) where my dad keeps his boat. Mind you, he rents the slip...does not have a house there. Glad you had fun!

Well, I need to go do some work. I wanted to work all day today, but sometimes you have to take advantage of all the blessed little opportunities God gives you. Taking that little drive and hanging out w/ my better half is one of those moments. When I am old and gray, I won't be thinking...I should have worked more, right?

Love ya,

Pamela

Susie~ Hope Diane is feeling better!

Uh oh Pam.. you cleaned up 150lb dog poop and found 'something small' for me? What'd he eat?

I had 3 bites of a cheese quesadilla with some salsa for lunch, and STILL feel stuffed like I gorged on Thanksgiving day! I picked up some instant carnation b'fasts this weekend.. luckily.. I can't eat anything else, and it's already 8pm. May not be able to get any more solids down, and 3 bites of cheese, tortilla, and salsa is not exactly nutrition (but it IS scrumptious).

Making egg salad for tomorrow's lunch. Tomorrow starts week 3 of me officially exercising. Wow! Longest I've ever gone in my life. I deserve to treat myself to something fun.. like Jamaica. Mwhaha. Actually, we're planning to go to Tunica next weekend, I just got my commission check this month and it was about 5x what I normally make. I landed some awesome jobs last month, yaaay. So I put aside money for Jamaica, Money for V trip, and have some left over for us to blow at the casino. Down another 1lb today. Life is good.

I can't wait for our trip, I'm ready to meet ya'll!!!!

TracyK---my oldest DD is alergic to metal, and had to have braces---so sores in her mouth were very common. They had her swish her mouth with a mixture of 1/2 liquid benadryl (which shrinks the sore and helps heal it) and half Kaopectate or similar medication(the chalky texture allows it to stick to the sore)...you can swish and spit or swish and swallow, either one will work. She spit during the day, swallowed at night, the benadryl knocked her out so she quit worrying the sore with her tongue.

I have some numbing medication----wish you were next door!!!

Pamela--I am so glad you are feeling better......such a relief to have it behind you, and Susanne there to take good care of you!

OK--gotta go!

Evening, Violets..

Just got in from the "warm" tub. The power kicked off on it Thursday during the thunderstorm and we didn't know it til Saturday when I went to get in. It was 81 degrees and definitely not usable. The Bobster reset it today and it got up to 95. Warm enough for me to get in and do my exercises, but not warm enough to stay in and relax. I boosted it up to 101 so hopefully tomorrow night it will be back to normal.

We head down for our fills tomorrow. I sure hope it helps both of us with our snacking. We have not been doing as good as we should. I have to find my lightest clothes to wear tomorrow for the weigh in. :smile2:

Jane...our high today was 42 and a low tonight of 25.

I'm anxious to get it into the 50's and 60's so the backyard will finally be done with snow and Water.

Everyone sleep well tonight. We leave at 8:30 in the morning for our 2 p.m appointment. Won't be back until about 8 or 9 at night. Makes for a long day, but well worth it!

Nighters!!!

Judy, Have a safe trip.

Busy day for me today. I have a shift this morning than heading over to KS to a hospital. My Aunt is having surgery this morning to reverse a colostomy. Than it's over to the Bariatric center. A girl I used to work with is having her band surgery today. I'm excited for her.

We went thru all our house papers yesterday looking for the plot papers. We have to have them to file for a permit for the pool. I don't ever remember seeing them so it looks like I'm going to have to file for that also. So much paperwork to do to get this thing put in. Might be easier to move to a house that's already got a pool.

I have a fill next week and I need it. Gonna work on my Water this week and see if that helps.

Everyone have a great day. Hugs.

PS. Jane, thank you for thinking of me. It helped.

Morning Violets~

I started this post about 20 min ago, but actually had a phone call from a student at 5:30am! Can you believe it? I answered the phone with, "It is 5:30am!"...that was my hello. She is back east, but still...get a freakin clue!

Anyway, travel safely Judy! I have to only work today, nothing after school. Well...some good news. Remember the wood dresser amoir thingy we bought that arrived all jacked up? Well, the delivery guy has arranged for his woodsmith to come and fix it! At no cost to us! He came over last week, but will be back today to do the work! I am sooo excited, and very impressed w/ this delivery guys work ethic. I thought I'd never hear from him, but he called a few times last week and arranged it!

So, I'll be home grading papers. No working out until Thursday (hopefully). I am starting my dissertation group again and we will meet on Wednesday nights! That will help get me focused. Between diss and Walden...I am ALWAYS on the puter. Not to mention my obsession w/ LBT and scrabble! LOL

Laura~ I promise I did not get your surprise out back! That cracked me up!

Everyone have a great day!

xoxoxo

Susie~ You are a very special person. Don't forget to take care of yourself w/ all you do for others. When you are floating in your pool, all the headache will be hard to remember!

Good Monday Morn, Vi's~~

Scale bounced up, but as I'm expecting TOM any moment, not a big surprise... but still unpleasant to see it.

I do not know what I did, but my right shoulder is KILLING me! It's when I move it only certain ways, but I keep forgetting and then WHAM-O -- the pain!! I can't think of a thing I've done to it... can't imagine where this came from. Wow it hurts.

Am trying to get back into a good working groove today/this week... suddenly have loads to do after almost 2 months w/out anything, and it is oh-so-hard to get back into the routine... that's the main bad thing about working for myself... self DISCIPLINE... ha ha ha ha ha!!

Make it a great one, Vi's!

G'morning girliez-

What a nice weekend i had! Weather was absolutely picture perfect, clear skies, highs in the mid-70's. Got to see my best friends, DH was out of town, kids are with their dad, no makeup all weekend, no grocery shopping,....just friends and beads and metal and house-hunting. Like i said... perfect!

Now back to work. But the boss is gone all week! So my good luck continues!

Pam - sure sounds like you are back in the swing of things! Glad you're feeling so good!!

Tracy - There was a LOT of pollen blowing in the air yesterday. Sorry you're feeling so crummy. I took my mom outside for a little while and that wasn't too smart...but she really enjoyed the sunshine and I gave her a pedicure while she basked. Good service, eh?

HAYDEE - I need to get my car detailed in the worst way. Got any coupons?? LOL How did your garage sale go this weekend?

Jenn- When is your 2nd interview? We're crossing our fingers for you...again!!!

Michelle - Sounds like you had a well-deserved treat with your mom. I'm happy for you!

Suzie - I'm so jealous of your pool....paperwork or no paperwork. In about another month or two I'll be dying for some relief from the heat!! Ha... but it only lasts FIVE months!! Aaaack!

Judy - Good luck with your fills and hope the highway angels are watching over you!

See ya'll later!

Terry, got my car detailed last fall and they did a great job!!! Never had it done before and my car is 8 years old. It was amazing!!! Although it is already trashed. You would think I have 18 children!!!

Michelle, you have done soo well with you weight loss, I think the extra pound is retribution from the cold you gave Tracy!!!!:smile2:

Tracy I hope you feel better!!

I wrote in my date book that I have something at 3:00 today. This is the first time I have done this, but I have racked my brain what it might be and can't remember! So I am going to stand someone up today!

Judy when does spring come?

Well I am off to start my day!!

Jane

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
