GOOD MORNING!

Judy: Happy Bandversary Yesterday!!!!!!!

TracyK: Happy Bandvesary TODAY!!!!!

Michelle: CONGRATS ON THE 5 LBS!!!!

Haydee: I've been to the bahama's and it was beautiful, but don't let anyone braid your hair on the beach before you negotate a price! they charge per braid and will go tiny tiny tiny to get all your money...

I've never been to Vegas, so I'm really excited.... however I checked plane tickets yesterday for our timeframe and DH's would cost $462.00!!!.. He won't go for that much.. and secretly it would be fun if he DIDn't.......... The gal that nominated me is also going. (She would prefer I keep her identity secret because she doesn't want to feel guilty for not nominating others who grace this board) It would be fun to shop and be a girl.........

HOWEVER... when I called Allergan yesterday it kind of sounded like they do this type of thing often (maybe for other products they produce) SOOOOOOOOO I think I will take a few notes with me and maybe get your names out there too...... this might be a period focus group type of opportunity.

I am so stoked! I've NEVER been to Vegas and the hotel is "The Wynn" I checked it out on line and it looks very nice! Do any of you Vegas regulars have a good deal on a dam tour or something for DH to do while I'm in my meeting on Saturday? He is not a drinker or gambler so that is part of the reason he wasn't interested in the trip.......

OK time to get cracking on my water... (I purposely did not bring a thermos of coffee with me this morning so I would be forced to drink water)

DAMN, Girlfriend!! The Wynn is one of the nicest hotels there is in Vegas!! Top shelf!!! They have a golf course and you have to be a guest to play....and it costs something like $400-500 a round!! My very rich friend stays there when she goes...I can't afford the place! If your meetings are all day, then I would suggest that DH take the Grand Canyon tour. He could catch a bus early in the a.m. and be home by 7:00ish (I think?). Just google "las vegas grand canyon tour" you'll get plent of hits. The Hoover Dam tour is really cool if he wants to get back earlier. It's probably only 4-5 hour RT. Very interesting story and very impressive to see. Otherwise, there's TONS of sports bars in the casinos....with 50 TV screens...where the people bet on all the sports. They have cushy couches and he'd be very comfy. Is he a pool guy? He could lay by the pool and watch all the hot babes!!...there's plenty of them! He could go to New York New York and play all the arcade games and ride the roller coaster on top of the hotel!! There's tons of stuff to do in Vegas....just tons.

Good Morning, Violets.

Ethan is here and he just zipped my neck in the zipper of my jogging suit. OUCH!!! If he wasn't so darn cute, I'd smack him!! :scared2:

The Wynn?? Tracy, that is one of the most beautiful hotels on the strip!!!!!! It's where the celebrities go when they stay in Vegas!! You're going to have a great time and you're a great representative of the lapbanders. Don't forget to tell them about the Shrinkin' Violets and the thread YOU started!!!

TracyK.. HAPPY BANDIVERSARY TO YOU!!!! You'll spend the day thinking.. at this time last year..

I reread my journal from a year ago last night and it was darn good reading. I've kept a journal since April 10, 2007 and have written in it every day about how I felt and what I ate and what life was/is like. I'm on my second notebook now.

Ethan want to play so gotta run. Catch you later!

Hey Terry I ate no sugar yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although when I was driving I did see a new restaurant/bakery? that was called Gooey Louies. It makes gooey butter cakes. I understand that is a regional thing, but boy for all you that don't know what it is, yummmmmm!!!

TracyK !!

It is actually SUNNY here!!!! I am soo excited, we were supposed to have heavy rain today. We are not having a very pretty spring, I think it is because of lack of sun, usually the azaleas and forsythias and such are sooooo pretty. Oh well at least the sun is out today!!

Everyone is doing great on their weight loss! I try not to step on scale every day, but I do. Officially Tuesday is my weigh in day, it use to be Monday but when we started contest I changed it.

Oh well everyone have a great day!!!

Jane

Terry.. we must have been posting at the same time with the same thoughts!!

Jane, our weather here is anything but springlike. Last night it started to rain about a half hour after we got out of the hot tub. Then it changed to sleet and I was sure our power was going to go off with all the sleet I could hear. I went downstairs a couple of times to see what it looked like cause it sounded so bad. It was winter again. The grass was covered with sleet, but it's gone now. Unfortunately we are supposed to get up to 2 inches of snow tonight. Ahhhhhhhhhhh Spring in Northern Michigan. My journal said last year on the 16th of April it was 85 degrees here!! I doubt that is going to happen this year.

Laundry is calling so I'm off again. I'm going to keep this open all day so be aware it might look like I'm here when I'm not.

HAPPY BANDIVERSARY TRACYK!!!

Pam you're in my thoughts!!

And Wynn is FABULOUS!! That's where me and DH got married, it's VERY classy and elegant. The rooms were about 4x the price of the rooms at like Paris & Rio (I haven't been inside), but I only imagine they are worth it, and hell it's free!!!! They have a lot of in-door floral and waterfall, etc. I could go on and on, I think Wynn is one of the most beautiful hotels out there.

Ok I thought one of you V's experienced this before, I know others on the board have, but this is first time it hit me. I ate PB & Crackers before bed-- pouch is full. I've never had a problem before. Last night I woke up 2 times, choking and coughing on acid taste. First time it went all the way into my nose and it was burning and miserable. I was spitting and hacking. I won't be eating right before bed again, that was so horrible.

Laura, I used to have that before I was banded. The doc repaired my hiatal hernia during the lapband surgery and I have no acid reflux issues at all anymore. That was another perk of the surgery. I had acid reflux so bad I had to sleep just about sitting up at night.

Reflux sounds horrible, I'm afraid I have some going on or part of my allergies. I get post nasal drip that tends to make me lose my voice every spring and either that is beginning or i have reflux happening, it is not burning but feels like i scratched the back of my throat to the point of being irritated, but no pain, no back ups...and for the last year I've been eating hot sauce like it is my job.

I have never stayed in Vegas, 8 years ago, I went to LA and ran through the airport and that is about it, a 20 minute visit.

Well I have had chronic heart burn since I can remember, I took Prilosec one a day since I was 17.. I finally about 3 months ago, am able to take one about once a week (yay). What happened to me last night is not my normal heart burn stuff. This was from my pouch being full and me sleeping I guess, it was so bad though. Literally woke up choking and DH was awake so he's like 'you ok?' and I couldn't catch my breath for a good 3 minutes while I was hacking.

Dh is in Vegas NOW... for "work"... he he, yeah, right! ^_^

We went once before... stayed @ the Rio... it was wonderful! We did the "Hard Hat" Hoover Dam tour... it's awesome... we got to go "behind the scenes", etc... I highly recommend it... we also went somewhere called something like "Red Rocks Park"??... it was beautiful, too, if your dh likes nature...

I am cranky again. I realize I get this way when DD is away on "work" travel... thankfully he doesn't travel all that much, but he IS gone 3x in April & May... bleh... I get tired of being the only parent w/no relief... for instance, last night dd was sick w/head cold/sore throat, ears, etc & was up for what seemed like HOURS... of course she wakes me up, comes into my bed, gets a nose bleed, we take care of that, lay back down, then this owl is hooting and it hoots for like an hour... it was cool, but we couldn't go to sleep... I finally fell asleep but she didn't... so we're both dragging today... she's home from school... I took her to the doc to make sure it wasn't anything more than just a cold/allergies like I had... and it's not... but knowing that doesn't make her FEEL any better... and so it goes...

We stopped @ Kohl's cuz' my blender is on the fritz so I wanted to check out those Magic-bullet type things and of course she wanted to look @ clothes & shoes but of course anything I think is adorable she hates, and what she likes I don't... PLUS... hardly anything fit her, which is frustrating for HER AND ME... she's 9.5 yrs old but wearing Jr. sizes as she weighs 112 lbs! She looks a bit heavy, but not huge by any means... of course, this brings up MAJOR issues w/me and I don't want to screw her up even more w/eating & body issues, etc... but really, she needs to eat better (she snax a lot... I'm thinking I'm just going to have to NOT have any crap in the house as alll... the boys will complain, but...) AND exercise (she hates it). I tried to make a "fun" suggestion that just the two of us could walk in the mornings and she flat out said no. I had a couple other suggestions, "no". I suggested that she think of something she'd like to do... grrr.

Am I venting here, or WHAT??? Thank you.

Anyhoo... I'm going up to take a nap now... & try to make her take one, too...

Grrrrr.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
