Hi Everybody. I'm not at goal weight, but I do want to buy some clothes. BUT....I go in the stores, and I'm amazed how cute I thinks ome things are on me...and then I realize...I DON'T KNOW WHAT AGE I AM. Am I trying on things that should only be worn by a teenager??? I went into Forever 21 and actually adored myself in a babydoll top and leggings. Oy. What am I supposed to wear at my age???? Any suggestions. I'd like to be mildly stylish but not look like an idiot.

Janet made some good suggestions regarding clothes selection. And, I agree... take someone shopping with you... someone you can trust to be honest. Like I have one daughter who would say, "that looks great, Mom" :) no matter what I put on. So I'd have to take my youngest daughter who would be more apt to say, " I don't think so, Mom" if I looked ridiculous!!

Don't you just hate that - I usually go shopping by myself - I think I am pretty good judge - sometime I can dress too old - Stacy & Clinton would be telling me I wear my stuff too baggy (we not so much now adays) - I do have one gf who would be honest - another one who still thinks she's a teenager half the time - but she is getting better - she is dressing her age. When she shops - she thinks to herself - would Janet approve - I am the fashion police too - BUT IN MY DEFENSE - everyone ask me for makeup - hair & fashion advice so I can't be too bad

As far as fills go, it takes a long time before you can get a fill and have it last a long ,long time. When you lose fat around the stomach, the band gets looser. It may not show on the scale, but the fat pad gets smaller. That goes on and on until you get closer to goal.

My daughter took my jeans in. I thought they were tight enough but she said I was supposed to have them be "more fitted" What do I know.

All I know is that I don't like the low rise ones!

Janet...you look GREAT!!! Congrats on such a wonderful achievement. Your hard work has paid off big time.

Thanks !!!! I feel so much better... OMG I was in such denial prior to being banded - my excuse for being tired was my age not the fact that I was FAT.

Denise I'm with you - low rise aren't made for people who have tummies - I like my pants at my waist - period end of story..

Janet, I have to say you look "mavalous darling" I think you inspire us all. I went for my third fill yesterday afternoon and I can tell I am pretty tight. I felt this way at first after my 2nd fill but with time, it loosened up and I am sure this will too. Its wonderful to see the before and after pics. Take care, Brenda

:thumbup:Janet, You look great!!! You truly are an inspiration. It is just hard for me to believe you weigh 177 in that picture, because you look like you

would already be at goal or less. I am sure clothes shopping is a lot more fun. I just keep telling myself, that I too can be close to or at goal next year at this time. Hopefully this year will pass as quickly as the last 10. Janet, keep up the great work, and thanks again for all of the inspirational posts. Betsy

Besty - You are too kind - I am just a fat chick working my band... :)

I went shoping a while back like in Oct or Nov and got 14's - and some x-large tops - then in January got 2 size 12 pants :biggrin2: - My 14's are falling off me - tops still ok (i don't like tight stuff still have back fat issues) -

I really don't want to shop until I hit goal - but think I might get a few things this weekend - But now I have to learn all new stores and floors - I am use to shopping in like 3 stores Avenue - Lane Bryant - Macy's - I now go to Macy's and don't know where to look - there is so much more selections...

I am lucky - I carry my weight well - always have - most people would have never guessed I weighed 250 lbs 6 months ago...

Thanks again for the props !!!!

I need some suggestions. I have started my mushie stage after surgery. The baby food thing just does not sound good to me. Also the meat and chicken in the blender also does not sound inviting. I have 2 weeks of mushies and would love to hear what others have done.

Thanks Dianne

I love the butternut squash Soup and still use it when I get a fill and have to be on full liquid type foods. If you think you'd like it, it has carrots and potatoes and is a puree texture. Not a lot of Protein, but in the first few weeks you can drink your Liquid Protein and sometimes we jsut need a new food item for variety. It comes in a box and you just heat it up!

Di - there is a food thread where they have tons of receipts on the main board

- I ate mashed potatoes (instant made with 100% skim milk) low fat refired Beans (good for protien)- I eat fish 99% of the time I made dover sole and just mushed it up with a fork it was like baby food - spag sauce with ricotta cheese - eggs (omelletts wth cheese) - oatmeal - I bought deviled Ham & chicken but it's still in the cupboard - I ate lowfat creamed spinanch - zuchinned cooked to death - yellow grits with a spagh sauce on top & little cheese - I tried blending beef and didn't care for the taste - made chili colorado for gs and tried to blend it - and put it over mashed tatoes - didn't care for the taste but it was Protein and I love potatoes....

Congrats on mushies they are heaven...

Janet & Phyl - I've been enjoying your posts on your "Lucky #7s" thread & just had to comment. First congratulations to you both, I see Phyl lost another 4 1/2!!!!wow and Janet you are down another 3! Great job, both of you. But you have a unique group and it's inspiring to see where I can be in 6 or 7 months with hard work & determination. Thank you!

I'm 4 weeks out from surgery & have lost 17 lbs! I'm thrilled, shocked and the only thing I'm not feeling is the energy I had hoped to have. But I'll be patient and take it as it comes.

Janet - One of your posts I read on another thread has been on my mind since last week & I just need to respond. It was regarding your gs 's interest in school changing this year, for the better. He may not be "aware" of it, but your example has made a difference in his life; determination, loyalty to yourself & your health & he sees what hard work can accomplish. He is a lucky young man to have you so close in his life. (IMHO)

Carol

Hi Everyone,

I had my lapband surgery on Monday and so far, so good. I'm not hungry at all, but the liquid diet is a bit dreary. I'm doing mostly Isopure for Protein. I tried milk w/ vanilla Protein Powder this afternoon and it was ugh, ugh, ugh. No go. Anyone have any other suggestions for downing protein in a palatable way?

I guess what I'm feeling right now is anger, believe it or not. I'm angry that I had to resort to something so radical to get my body back to a normal size. The thought of not being able to eat my favorite foods forever more makes me angry. Don't worry -- I'm not angry enough to buck the system -- but I'm angry that I can't be just a normal person who knows when to stop putting food in her mouth. I guess I'm in mourning for my food. What else can I say?

I'm tired -- I need a few short naps each day so far. I walked for 15-minutes today in 5-minute intervals. I'll push it up a bit tomorrow.

I need some lapband pals -- people to whom I can write and who will write to me so we can encourage one another. Anyone game?

b.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
