Katy,

Good for you! Glad to hear you will be getting some care. At this point you need to just focus time on yourself and your healing and tell everyone else to care for themselves. You have GOT to love yourself enough to take care of yourself as you would anyone else you loved! I'm sure the new doctor will be able to help you, and I'm sure you are moving towards a healing, healthy path now.

As for Nsaids, I was told not to take them as well. However, then my dentist wanted me taking ibuprofen for the inflammation due to my the infections and my 2 root canals. I called my surgeons office and they said it would be fine for a short term something like this, but not to take it regularly. So kindda the same as Charlene's dr.

Katy, glad something is finally going to be done about your issues.

Hi--I haven't posted for awhile, but I need to get back! This place makes us more accountable. I have been making bad choices, but I am ready to get back and use the band as it is intended. I gained 12 lbs from my lowest, but I know that can easily grow to 52, 62, etc. The sinus infection for 4 months did me in--little exercise and eating more. And, to be honest,I have been feeling lonely.....and we all know who my best friend can be!! Food!

I have to be my best friend. Thanks for listening.

NSAIDS - I was also told not to take ever. and with a flare up of my bursitis in my shoulder I was concerned.. I ended up with a cortizone shot to remedy that pain..

I may ask my DR tomorrow about short term use, just to know for future

I have had lots of pain around my port area: has anyone else experienced this??

Lynn, what kind of band do you have? I have the Realize band and the doc's PA told me their port takes a little longer to heal inside due to the way it is attached. It no longer hurts, but if I lean over a table or bend just so I get a little twinge that reminds me it is there. I've been doing crunches with my exercise program, and I can feel the port when I am doing them (just a twinge) and this morning I notice it is there. Is yours very painful? - this long after your surgery it should not be hurting a lot. I would call my surgeon and ask about it if mine was hurting a lot this many months after surgery.

Katy - bless your GP. I am so glad he is looking out for you. I hope he has found someone who can help you get these problems solved. Please keep us in the loop - many people here care very much for you.

Katy, it sounds to me that you have a good GP. He must care very much for his patients. I have found that I would rather go to my GP or PA than go to a specialist. My GP takes time to listen and a specialist seems to be cut and dried and then speeds on out of the exam room. It was good that you had your report with you. You had proof of exactly what was done. I realize that everyone has to see and have procedures done with a specialist sometime, but a GP is more familiar with your lifestyle and all.

I like to think that with every experience, we learn to stick up for ourselves and others. We would not be where we are if we had not been where we were.

Take care and I sure hope you will be on the mend real soon.

Blessings, MiMi :rose:

I called my Dr's office this morning and asked about taking Aleve or Ibuprofen and the nurse said I could take anything for pain. I'm going to stick with X-Strenth Tylenol from now on.

Jb: It is amazing how tight my band gets when I get upset. It's like it just shuts down!

Katy: God Bless You and your GP.

Lynn: I've heard that the more weight you lose the closer your port gets to the skins surface. In fact some people have had to have them reimplanted deeper in the muscle.

I have an appt with my surgeon tomorrow. I know I will not be getting a fill. but will have questions on the sensitivity in the area around the band. Exercise does make it twinge, but there is discomfort at other times too.

Stress is my enemy with the band. It tightens up...and there has been plenty of stress lately...

Wish I couldget past this palteau. I have been the same weight for more than a month..

Katy, thoughts are with you as you wait your appt on Friday

The band is very fickle. That is what I don't like about it. It seems to have a mind of it's own. Some foods will work fine, then all of a sudden, the next time you try it , it's a no go.

I have heard from many many people who say that their band tightens when they are under stress.

When you have to stop eating - is the feeling that of fullness or do you have a pain and are more than uncomfortable? I guess what I am trying to figure out is when you say you are full and satisfied, is it pain telling you to stop, or the feeling of fullness when you overindulge at Xmas? I get very uncomfortable/pain and am wondering now if I am more irritated than I should be because I don't just feel full -- I kinda have a pain. I don't know if I'm explaining what i mean. Sorry if I'm rambling. OK - is it pain or just a feeling of fullness? when you have had enough?

I know that when the pain comes I have definielty over sone it... too much food

I usually start to burp when i have had too much food. If I base my intake in measured amounts I do better..

I went to my surgeon yesterday and got told to make sure I measure, track my food and eat solids. I have been sliding down foods lately...therefore eating more than I should..so I have to go back in a month,,, my 1 year bandaversary and see how I am doing...I have to get my mind around this again 100%

I can come up with all kinds of excuses, but the bottom line is I have been slipping and need to get back to the program..

Plateau's suck! I've been the same for almost 5 months now. I thought I needed more of a fill, but nope, that wasn't it. I need to just be patient and it will come off. Its my body fighting to hold on to every last ounce of fat I have left I guess. :mad2:

Deb - I know I would be going crazy if I were that close to goal and not losing anything, but I have a couple of questions - how tall are you? You have lost almost 100 pounds - is it possible your body is happy where it is right now? I am new at this, but on several threads here and read A LOT. I have heard/read that you will stop losing at the point where your body is comfortable with it's weight - several people at or around goal have mentioned that. If you feel you are drifting away from the dietary rules of lapbandland, Phyll (on this thread) and others have done a 5-day pouch test, instructions for which can be found by googling it. Many feel it gets them back on track with the program.

There are lots of folks on this thread who have much more experience than I do with this lifestyle change. I hope they chime in with some thoughts and suggestions for you.

p.s. - I'm in full agreement PLATEAUS SUCK!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
