Hi, New member scheduled for Swedish band

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to say hi! I am looking forward to surgery on 9-11. Dr. Marema in Ft. Lauderdale will do the procedure. I feel very lucky to have been accepted to be a part of the clinical trials for the Swedish Adjustable Gastric Band. If not for that, I probably wouldn't be having the surgery for some time( no insurance coverage and financing not an option at this time).

Is there anyone out there with a Swedish Band?

Looking forward to encouragement, inspiration and support!

Angie

Angie,

Hi! I live in Florida too! I was trying to get in on the swedish band study with Dr. Rosenthal (at CLeveland Clinic) but they didn't seem to know when the study would actually start at the Cleveland CLinic. Do you know if Dr. Marema is still looking for patients for this study?

There are a few people who went to Mexico that have the swedish band...check some of the old posts and I think you'll find some!

Good Luck!

Marsha

Congratulations on getting in on a clinical study!! You're really lucky--you should be getting great care that way.

I was part of a clinical study years ago after dropping 75 lbs. on Optifast; they were studying the effectiveness of SSRI medications (like Prozac) on weight loss maintenance. Either I was given a placebo, or their theory didn't hold water.
