Terry -

that looks very nice. Does the cost of stay include SanAntonio for Sunday night? Not that I mind because i'm getting taxes back but it is going to add up, but ya'll are stuck with me... i'm going and my dr gave me drugs to travel this morning.... my bp was not even as high as it could have been talking about getting on a plane.

Tracy - roomie - either way... I don't mind sharing either. what ever works best... shoot, i usually have to share my bed with my 2 children who are not very sharing

i am just so excited.

Judy, we need you :(

why thank you for such a quick answer. LOL

I am just so thrilled. I can't wait til i can book my flight, hopefully by the end of next week. I'm cc deprived so i need the cash to book.

I'm looking at $1000 for the weekend, but that allowing $400 spending money for the weekend, which I would hope I wouldn't spend, but being cc deprived, I don't want to worry about anything.

I am in, even if I go it alone that is how excited i am. LOL but at least i know tracyks is in, she has her flight. LOL

Terry~ Thanks but this is a spouse free weekend. Also, she is retiring "officially" being out processed that weekend. I got totally lucky cause she wants to go through the process in AZ, which is her home state. Initially, about 6 months ago, she asked if I could go with her, and I said I couldn't take the time off work. Now, for the same weekend I am taking the time off work to go be w/ ya'll (I am practicing). Anyway, she doesn't remember wanting me to go now...and is happy going w/ her mom. Her "official" retirement party will be in April (we think) and I wouldn't miss that for the world. My parents are acutally coming down from Reno to be there, bro, fam. etc. Her, who is currently in Iraq, is waiting to hear the final date and will come home for that. Also, (bragging here), she will awarded the Merit of Legion award at the retirement ceremony. It is a very big deal and I am so proud of her! Ok, enough about her...Should I bring my pink cowgirl hat?

Can we start booking flights yet? Has anyone booked yet? I don't want to get the refundable tix, it costs more. Are we for sure a go for that weekend?

shoot, i'll be wearing mine!!!

hat that is

Tracyks booked her flight this morning, and if i could mine would be booked.... i'll either book with mom's cc or wait until next week and book with my paycheck on Friday. I'm so excited ... I'm going to experiment with drugs, I don't want to be too out of it when I get there. I forgot I have anti anxiety pills I might just take them for 2 weeks prior to the trip to calm my nerves, but i now have a script from my dr that I'm going to try to see how i react. I'm super sensitive to meds.

If you have a pink cowgirl hat, by all means you should bring it...but only if you have pink boots & belt to match! LOL

I just realized that the pics of the B&B don't look all that great....the landscape looks so blah. This complex is actually about 1 mile down the road from Gruene, and within a mix of oak trees and pasture land. Very Texas-like! As you approach the town of Gruene, it gets greener (no pun intended) because you approach the river, obviously. We'll have to drive down there when we're ready to go, but there's plenty of parking and we should only have to make that little trek a couple of times. Oh, and the real beauty of this whole thing is that it's completely, massively casual....T-shirts and capris or shorts and flip flops. If you dress any fancier you'll look like a tourist!! LOL Can't have that!

Jenn - I can't imagine that you'd spend that much in cash unless you're gonna buy a boatload of T-shirts!! But I hear what you're saying...better too much than not enough.

I'm going to ask for massive gift cards for clothes for my bday. I am very comphy in a 16 now but hope by time we go to lose at least 20lbs. I love jean mini's and flip flops so that is just about my speed. very casual.

I will have to bring home gifts for my kids. maybe a hat for dd, she needs a new one. But i'll need gas money too, for my 5 hr trip. LOL

I will call the Gruene Mansion Inn and get a firm handle on the rooming cost. Keep in mind that Haydee, TracyK (?) and I will be pitching in extra for the rooms since we aren't flying...so I'll figure out how that will work, too (somehow!).

I would love to help out like that since we have no air fare.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
