6 Month diet done wrong??

I have been going to my doctor since May '07 and getting weighed and my blood pressure taken. July's weight was skipped somehow but my blood pressure was recorded - I had to start the 6 month evaluation all over at that point. I might have seen my doctor 2 or 3 times in this time period but it's been primarily done by the nurse. I've recently read this may be a problem. Please let me know if you've been rejected or accepted with these issues?? BC/BS Illinois

Thanks!

Misty

Your best bet would be to contact your insurance provider directly and ask exactly what you need to do in order to get approved. I too have BC/BS, but I didn't have to do the 6 months supervised diet, so it may vary from plan to plan. What I know about the supervised diet from my surgeon's medical receptionist (she has BC/BS and had to do the supervised diet before her surgery) is that BC/BS must receive a faxed form from your doctor for each of the 6 consecutive monthly visits (no gaps) stating what diet plan you are following, what kind of exercise you are doing, as well as changes in weight.

I know that this is an extremely frustrating time, but hang in there. You'll get there soon enough! Keep us posted on your progress!

Thanks for your reply Trixie. BC/BS of Il. representative and the handbook states 6 consecutive months supervised diet by my primary physician. I'm afraid it's too general and they may say it means the physician has to see me every time not the nurse. It seems like I've been doing this forever. I hope the nurse recording the weights and blood pressures will be OK.

I have never seen my doctor for the weight loss supervised program. Every month I go in, it is either his nurse or the PA the sees me. The paperwork states the doctors name. Anything that needs to be signed has the doctor's signature on it even though I don't see him. They are his representatives. Just like if the nurse gives you a prescription, it has the doctors authorization because she cannot prescribe. My letter of necessity will come from the doctor, not the nurse. She weighs me and talks to me about diet and exercise, writes a paragraph for the insurance company, I nod and agree with whatever she says to do, then go away until the next month. The whole six month is just because it is required by my insurance. Even my doctor thinks it is unnecessary but we do it anyway. I am in my sixth month now. Yippee!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
