I want to start the couch to 5K program , does anyone want to start it with me on Monday or Tuesday ? I would like to even double it up , so I can finish it in 4 weeks? But I'll see how it goes at first?

If anyone wants to start it with me please let me know

Thanks

Did day 2 of week 3 this morning.

I really didn't want to do it this morning but I forced myself anyway

This is getting a little easier. My head says I can't run that long but I'm making it. I haven't looked at what week 4 has in store for me - I don't want to scare myself yet and I like denial :cursing:

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!!!

wombat

Good for you Wombat!!

So, I'll probably PM you later..but I went to my Dr and the MRI shows a version of RA called: Ankylosing Spondylitis. I can't pronouce it, I can't spell it - but it's a version of arthritis located in the spine. Guess I got to google and get caught up.

Good news - exercise is the best thing for it / Bad news - finding a drug I can take. Again we can chat, not to bottle this thread up with.

Have been working out still - bike / walking / upper body...Punched DH last night and was told I hit like a guy, so that parts working:wink_smile:

Happy VD Day All~~

I waited long enough!!!! I started the C25K this week. Today will be day 2 for me. The first day my calfs were SORE!!! I downloaded the podcasts so that I don't have to keep an eye on the timer. I'm going to try my best to complete the full 9 weeks.

Lulu - feel free to PM me!! I have spondylarthropathy version of RA.

Bigbaby - yea you!!! It just gets easier as you go :crying: I love the podcasts - it makes it easier than staring at the clock praying for the time to be up

Absolutely~ Congrats!!

I think you would be doubling up ?

On off days you want to do weight traning or soemthing along those lines.

your days of running ARE your cardio , I believe ? Correct me if im wrong some one ?

Mindy

Hun, maybe that's why my knees went bum??

I had been doing the bike or elliptical at least inbetween the 3 to 4 days of running averaging 5 days of cardio...Whoysa that wrong?

Well crap,...

Running is Cardio, I THINK Bike and Elliptical depending on how long and what you get your heart rate up to , is cardio .

You need to give your body a break that is why the C25K program only runs ya 3 days a week.

I would try some light weights , ya gotta tone as well.

Whosya can probably help us with this as well. Also you need to give yourself one day a week break off everything as well.

Totally agree, I had been weight training after my run or other cardio - and been taking a yoga/pilates class once a wk. I think I burnt myself out some and have been easy going these past 10days...My scale was not moving, so I had been in the gym more than home - DH says. HA!,,Did work some losing a lot of inches - but my scale still has issues.

Doing wk5 today - then only abs. Fingers crossed my knees make it....Thanks Mindy!

Yeah i would either swim or do weights between your running for right now... YOu will be able to do alot more later..but dont go too crazy right now like i did as youll only put yourself behind.

Ok here is a picture from my Y this morning. Crap quailty i know but look how the snow is piled way higher than the cars her. I just luuuurve Wisconsin.

Howdy all. I fell off the planet and back into Flu-ville, TX! Took me to my knees, 2 doc visits and 1 week of work lost. Not to mention any kind of activity, other than lots of sleeping and TV.

Yeah to the many success since my last visit. And wow to the snow. Here in Texas, we really think you guys fake those kind of pictures.

I am afraid I will be stuck in week 2 forever. I may try it next Tuesday. But all of your successes are so encouraging!! Keep it ups guys!

Well guys....I DID IT!!!!

Week 1 was completed today!!!

My calfs are sore...sore...sore...sore...

I forgot to stretch before starting

I'll start week 2 on Tuesday!!!

woohoo Bigbaby!!!!!! You are on your way

Texgirly - sorry to hear you've been so sick. My daughter has been out of school for 3 days with the flu. I'm thanking God that the rest of us haven't caught it.

I went to the office and ran my 3rd day of week 3!!!!! No excuses - nor rain or hail. lol I am looking forward to getting into week 4!!!!

whosya - I cannot imagine that kind of snow!! I'm freezing here in TX and I know you're rolling your eyes! lol

I think it is beautiful up there but the winters would do me in!

Congrats BigBaby on completing Wk1!!!

Hope your feeling better TXG, DH and I were talking last night how lucky we've been dodging the Flu Bug (Knock Wood), we're chalking it up to be A whole lot healthy this Season.

So - I'm going for wk 6 today (That is a whole LOT of running), I tested how long I can run non stop yesterday and got to 17mins .. so I think I can handle this....

On a side note: Took a class Sat (Combo Step / Weights / Abs / etc.) w/my BF and we about DIED. She actually counted that we did 125 lunges on EACH leg and 150 squats. My legs are still wobbly, and trying to go to the Loo yesterday took so much Ab strength, I think it was better than doing a million crunches...Anyway - Have a good wk all!!!
