Hi all! I had gastric sleeve on November 6th and am just now getting the required liquids in. It has been kind of rough. I didn’t have a pre-op diet so I guess I wasn’t as prepared as I thought I was. Only thing that I wanted to eat was crushed ice but I’ve finally moved to Protein Water, Protein Shakes and broth. I’m so glad I found this app. I had to go get IV fluids and a steroid today and will repeat Monday at my week check in appointment. Anyway, just saying hi! Good luck to all!

My surgery went really well. Surgeon even got me in earlier than expected that day. I've been at home since yesterday. Been working on getting my Water and food down. Haven't had any nausea or vomiting. Making sure to walk every hour or two. Getting easier for water just set a recurrent timer for 5 mins and have been taking sips every 5 mins. The gas in the shoulders feels like a pulled muscle pain to me.

Any, can I ask what hospital and who your doctor was for the prep and surgery? I was surprised to hear you say you didn't have a pre-op diet - so no liquid diet for a week or 2 before your surgery? A lil FYI: beware, this site is super pricey for the items you mentioned. Try Walmart online....same stuff for way cheaper!!! :) A 12-pack of Premier shakes is $25 compared to here at almost $40. Walmart also has a nice organic chicken bone brone broth, Pacific Foods. Important to follow pre and post surgery guidelines but we still need to watch our spending power too. :)

I hope you are doing better.

HI Snowcursed,

Glad to hear you are doing so well. I haven't had my surgery yet, set for 11/30, and happy to hear of your success - gives me hope as i'm quite nervous. Walking and taking your sips on time, bravo for you!!!

Gas in your shoulders? I'm confused about that. Why would you have gas in your shoulders?

Keep up the good work and blessings on a steady recovery. :)

The gas pains manifest in the shoulders. It's a common side effect for after surgery. It is a very odd feeling. They inflate you to make surgery easier to do so we get the gas pain in the shoulders.

I'm right there with you. But all will be fine. Do something that relaxes you...some deep breaths, music, a movie, a little outdoor time, something that can take your mind of the surgery, whatever works for you. :) .

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
