Yay! I'm so glad that there is a group for October sleevers. I'm sister did the gastric sleeve surgery 3 years ago and she speaks very highly of having a month group to chat and process with. My surgery date is October 20th. :)

So, what are people nervous about or currently struggling with?

I'm trying to pre-emptively get in the habit of not drinking 30 before meals until 30 minutes after meals but I'm struggling with that. Drinking fluids with meals is so auto-pilot for me that I feel like that is going to be the hardest habit to break because I don't even think about it. Eating makes me thirsty.

Just had my sleeve done yesterday, 10/9! I feel pretty good. Doc let me go home same day, so no hospital overnight. I felt much better at home than I did in the hospital. Am feeling pretty good. Had 4 ounces of Protein Shake this morning, have been sipping a lot of Water. My mouth has been so so dry.

So we're almost half way through the month. How are people doing so far with their surgeries and/or pre-op diets?

My surgery isn't until October 20th but I'm already down 6 pounds this month from pre-op dieting which I'm pretty excited about.

If you don't mind me asking what is the post-surgery pain level like? Have you been able to comfortably move around / resume normal daily activities?

I’m also 10 days out and feeling better than I expected! Up and walking a few miles a day. I’m also tired like Shotputqueen said, some days more than others, but reminding myself I had major surgery basically a week ago and my body is still figuring out that the heck happened! Just one of my incision cites still hurts but I can adjust around it mostly. So far so good! Should get cleared to go to purée on Monday 🤞🏻

My post-surgery pain has been quite minimal. A little pain on my right side, especially when I need to use those abs. And the rear roof of my mouth feels really badly bruised from the intubation I guess -- I've never had that before after surgery so it is not likely to be related to WLS, just my particular experience this tie. I'm basically able to do most of what I did before, but already with less pain. 3 days out, 5 pounds down from surgery weight.

I officially start my Pre-Op diet tomorrow, but since my consultation on Monday, I have been replacing meals with shakes, in the hopes that this will allow me to ease into the Pre-Op diet. I just picked up all the meds that they sent in for after-surgery today.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
