Tomorrow is Band Day

I have been working toward this day for over a year. After a 1+ year process, with two insurance denials and finally an approval in Nov, TOMORROW I am getting banded.

I just downed my bottle of Magnesium Citrate and am waiting for the effects to kick in. My surgery is scheduled for 10am tomorrow and I have a pre-op appointment with Dr Kane at 1:00 pm today.

I am really not nervous -- more anxious. I just keep thinking about the pain and gas that I have read about. I am not worried about eating. It seems like a mental thing, but knwing my surgery was this week I have not been hungry. I was not on a liquid diet until today. My plan was to treat everyday like my last supper. I did not do it. I just was not hungry.

My only issue to this point is telling other people of what is actually happening to me. Of course my wife, mom and mother-in-law know, but I hesitate to tell others. I WILL NOT lie if and when people ask how I lost the weight, BUT I do not want people watching every bite of food and every action I make over the next year. Has anyone els experienced this? If so, how did you ultimately handle it?

This is all a learning curve.

Wish me luck!

gl in your upcoming surgery. It is ok to be anxious , but dont worry everyone is different when it comes to pain and so forth. i was banded on the 12th of december. i had soreness more irritating than painful as far as the gas part from the anestetia. wasnt to bad except i had my left arm was very achy. drove me nuts. but it will be all worth it. and some people dont tell very many people about what thier doing when it comes to this kinda surgery. I on the other hand told everyone i was excited to do something to make myself in better health. but like i said everyone is different. gl with your surgery your gonna love it.
