5 days Post op and cheated

Recommended Posts

I’m having a super hard time continuing to drink these Protein Shakes, I’m sick of them.

I cheated by chewing a fry and telling myself I’m going to spit it out which I did but very little went down.

now I’m freaking out!! Anyone effed up like I did smh?

There was a lady on here that ate 5 flaming Cheetos only 9 days post op so it happens. The thing is, you know it was a slip so just don’t do it again. The biggest reason isn’t really calories, it’s the fact that your new stomach is healing. Don’t want to accidentally mess cause a medical issue ya know? I know the Protein Shakes suck. Could you thin out yogurt with milk maybe? I’d talk to my doctor to see what I could do instead. Good luck!

You won’t be alone in doing this but do remember all those sutures & staples holding your tummy together. The staged return to eating solid food is in place to protect your healing tummy & support your recovery.

I found the shakes awful too. I’d have a diluted one in the morning but then had cream Soups (strain so no lumps or fibrous bits) & broths (bone is very good but can be salty). Make your own yoghurt drink by blending yoghurt (plain Greek) & milk. You can add some Protein Powder too. Just keep everything thin so it goes down easily. It’s only for two weeks. You’ll get through it.

Protein Shots are what's getting me through. Bariatric Pal has some pretty good ones. They are usually about 3 oz worth, and I add about 4 oz more of Water. There are lots of brands with 20g Protein or more. I can not do the shakes any longer. Any time i try one, i feel like I'm going to vomit. I also bulk up my Soups with unflavored protein. I'm still trying to find one I like. Good luck.

Welcome!

Chew and spit is a technique that many people have used to get through their cravings. As long as you aren't swallowing it, you should be fine. You'll want to be really careful that you aren't swallowing any of it, though. So, you might want to rinse out your mouth, afterward.

Please be careful! You're tummy just endured a major procedure. It's really not worth risking damaging it. This stage is very hard, I know. Six more days until I move to pureed food. I want to eat so bad. But we have to be strong. This is such a small part of the journey. Expand what you're drinking, just one thing would drive anyone crazy. Broths, ice treats, jelly, Protein Water. Keep it varied.

@Jeanniebug I definitely won’t be doing it anymore, it’s scary when some goes down accidentally or you don’t spit it out in time.

@CarolineLittle yes yes you’re absolutely right, we have to stay strong but it’s so hard. I’m definitely not doing that again, my stomach did hurt a little but nothing more than that.

thank you all for your words of encouragement this site is pretty cool, I hope everyone that has had Bariatric surgery comes across It.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
