Things youve learned since having your surgery? What you wish you knew/tips? My Surgery is 08/10

Eating the right things is more important than anything else.

That dumb saying, "nothing tastes as good as being skinny" totally true, because there isn't one food I miss enough to mess this up.

And I should have done this sooner.

Just remember not to over do anything knowing you are going into surgery. I would start weening off sugars now, it will make it easier later, and get you a jump on shrinking your liver. And maybe start sampling Proteins, because man, some are gross, and you want a good variety on hand for your pre and post off liquid phases. I really like my 1stPhorm shakes, because they are that sickeningly sweet artificial tasting kind.

Follow the plan your team has to a tee. I follow it religiously and my weight has dropped like a rock. Start weight 323lbs, exactly 5 months and 3 weeks later I’m down to 188.0lbs. Only a single stall that lasted 1 week but again I have not cheated a single time, tracking everything I put in and energy out. Just my personal experience but I have watched the people who think they can cheat with no consequences. Use the tool you’ve been given and you will be successful. Best of luck, speedy recovery.

The first three months are key. Many people lose 50% (or more) of their eventual total during the first three months. Take full advantage of this "honeymoon" period by strictly adhering to your diet. The weight drops off quickly during the first three months and then slows progressively each month following. You get one "honeymoon" period, and that's it.

I totally agree with you, I should have done this about 8 years earlier! And your right, whenever i "think" i miss Cookies, coca cola etc, i remind myself that those foods are poison to your body!! Listen to your weight loss team and stick with the plan!

Take advantage of your year long honeymoon phase! After 4 months it's very easy to 'abuse' your sleeve & eat what you want. Stay strict, stay commited, find healthy meals you love & stick with it. You'll keep losing when people's progress starts to slow down

Your body will change, but more importantly, the chemicals in your body will change. For at least six months to a year afterwards you're not gonna feel the same. Whether it's low energy, no Iron, low libido, or any other things. It will be a mental adjustment as you keep pushing through, and your body balances out.

Stick to your plan, take your Vitamins daily, and don't hesitate to go see a specialist if you feel things aren't right, especially mentally. others on these forms have mentioned it before, I wish I had jumped on it sooner...

I just got approved from my surgery for 08/10! Any tips for someone starting out? Must haves? Any thing you have learned since having your surgery?

KNOW YOUR WHY & why you are doing this. You will have buyers remorse at some point, but it will be temporary. I've had days where I've literally thought, what have I done? I miss abusing food, ect. But it's short lived & then you remember, you're losing weight, taking care of this body you hold up a permanent residence in & after awhile, you don't really care about food like you used to. I use to live to eat! I could eat sooooo much until I was sick. I had binge eating in a bad way, now I can't believe how much I could eat in a single sitting! Would last me a week now haha! I am 5wk PO down 31 lbs since surgery. My starting weight was 248 lbs I am currently 217 lbs I want to be around 135 lbs is when I felt optimal but I felt good at 150-160 lbs in the past too. I am 5'6 See where my body puts me & how far I'm willing to go. I am not going to cheat on my diet until maintenance stage, it's just not worth it. The honeymoon stage you keep hearing about it real & you only get ONE so I'm taking full advantage of it.

If you have any questions or anything you can message me anytime on here or my toktok @kno_ur_why.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
