Hi everyone! I’m new here, sleeve surgery is in 6/12. Kind of feeling a little concerned, my surgeon doesn’t have me on any kind of special diet prior to surgery with the exception of 24 hours prior (clear liquid diet). Am I on an island here? Anyone else have no restrictions prior to surgery?

I have one week pre-op clear liquid diet. Otherwise they just have me practicing the bariatric plate method and taking my Vitamins.

My doc is the same, no pre op diet. We are the lucky few. My surgery is Friday!

Woo hoo! June 6, 2023 is the day. Initially had the lapband through True Results in 2011 (lost 100lb and maintained) then they disappeared! Removed that in Jan 2023 due to an issue unfortunately gained 36 lbs. Now VSG on June 6th, praying this tool and I become best friends and work well together. 😜

My surgery is in 4 days. So far so good. I found and excellent website that talks about the importance of Vitamins and minerals after surgery. I am sharing this so you can read it. Who knew that you are not supposed to take the Iron and Calcium at the same time and that they should be separated by at least two hours? Enjoy reading. 😀 https://www.obesitycoverage.com/bariatric-vitamins-guidelines/

Hi Ang, please do not worry, there is no standard amongst the specialists (nutritionists or surgeons). Be happy that you do not have to do the liquid diet and enjoy your last “food funerals”. I posted before how frustrated I was about this, but we have no choice on those decisions and we should never worry about things we cannot control. I am sure your surgery will be very successful!

Was thinking about you with your surgery being tomorrow on the 1st! I’m right behind you with my bypass on the 2nd. Are you on only Clear Liquids today? I’m very anxious about not having my shakes tomorrow!

Good luck :)

Hey Catlady. No - just continuing with the milk diet. I cannot drink anything (milk) six hours prior to surgery but can have Water up to 2 hours before. You’ll be fine - I’ve found I’m not that hungry for the milk today I think because I’m in tomorrow!

Hi Carla - don’t know really. I was swimming for half hour each day up until three days ago as they physiologist recommended it though it’s not a must. It might be because it’s liquor. The milk diet I’ve been given does not include shakes or anything like that.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
