One week post op today, down 4kgs which is crazy. I'm not focused on Protein during the liquid stage, just hydration. Next week it'll become a focus. I've tried adding Protein Powder to my broths and it's just not working. I don't need pain meds now, I haven't slept well the past 3 nights though needing to change positions. Hopefully as incisions continue to heal that stops. I ordered an instant pot at 50% off yesterday and can't wait for it to arrive so I can meal prep for the next 2 weeks. Ordered lots of containers too. I can't wait to eat again, don't care that it's pureed lol.

I’m just alittle sore from the incisions. Also it’s really hard to consume the 60oz of liquids, Water is kind of hard to go down. I also can’t meet my Protein goal, the consistency doesn’t sit well. I burp a lot as well lol. How is your liquid diet going? I think I’m struggling more mentally than physically.

Oh ok. Which surgery did you have? I had the sleeve. I’m doing good with liquid but I was aloud Greek yogurt sugar free pudding cream Soups. By the 3rd day. Did you not get that option?

Had my surgery May 10th, currently 5 days post op & it’s been alittle rough. How is everyone else post op who had a May surgery?

I will say it will get better. Had Bypass surgery on May 3rd and the only real problem I had was not keeping my soft foods down the last couple days. I read something that said drink something hot/warm before your eat time so I tried it today and boy it was a game changer

So good to hear from you Gabbie! I was the same, pain and nausea. It gets better quickly. I just take a preventative tablet for reflux now, a week out. I'm living on broth lol. It's half my daily Fluid intake. I also have a protien Water, flavoured ice stick and jelly. Getting about 64 ounces with that.

Going home is the best! Take care.

Hi all, well I am now 9 days post op GS.. and it has been awful, i have been to the ER twice now for dehydration. I sill cant get much down without being in severe pain, then shortly after it comes up. They did CT scan and it shows that every thing looks good, no leaks. Now i have what i feel is a awful sinus infection. Blowing out and coughing up thick green mucus. Im feeling so defeated, and like having this surgery was mistake. I hope no one out here is going though anything similar to me,,

Please be encouraged. Although I haven’t had the same problems as you I was having a hard time with keeping my soft foods down (RNY May 3). I started drinking something hot/warm 30 minutes before each meal (i.e. broth, tea) and that has helped tremendously. I’m still only eating a few tips of a spoon but man it taste so good.

so just a suggestion try drinking something hot/warm to see what f it helps

Good luck 🤞

Oh so sorry, I pray for you! I was hoping the sip and let it melt in your mouth would work. What about ice chips.?

Ok guys I’m stuck. Day 6 post op. I hate sweet stuff never been a sweets person at all. Unfortunately most of all Protein things we can eat are sweet. I’m grossed out now. I can’t stand the thought or taste of sweet. I want savory. Yes I have my broth but it’s never enough protein and the strained creamy Soups. Still won’t meet my goal. I need ideas. I’m so ready for purred foods so I can get away from all this nasty sweet stuff.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
