I totally agree on the shakes, I find them really tough to drink! Glad you've been able to find a solution with the Soup and Isopure.

I'm nervous, too. I've not had a surgery either. I keep telling myself they do this every day, though. I really hope recover goes well for us, too! I'll be alone in hospital for 3 nights and then in a hotel for 2, so I'll try to come on here and update, too.

I'm not sure what time of day the surgery will be, I hope early so I don't have to wait around much! Did you get a time?

Will you have anyone traveling with you at all? I hope the flights aren't too tough on you while you are recovering.

My surgery time is 8:30am and I have to be at the hospital at 6:30. I am grateful for the early time.

Oh amazing! 😁 Glad to find a surgery twin.

I'm having a sleeve. Hopefully keyhole, but I might need open, due to some scar tissue from a surgery when I was born. Im terrified of waking up and hearing they couldn't perform the procedure, so a bit nervous!

Im traveling around 4 hours away. I have to take a connecting flight, which isn't ideal but had to be done. How about you, how far will you be traveling?

I'm traveling 4 1/2 hrs by car. It's not ideal, but I wanted to have the procedure with a surgeon who has done many of them before. I'll be thinking of you! Maybe we can check in via messaging. I don't like how this entire platform is public to anyone on the internet and not just Bariatricpal members.

Today is the day I am making my first soft Protein meal. I’ve tested the waters with a bite of lobster yesterday and a spoon of ricotta Saturday but have otherwise been on Protein Shakes and Clear Liquids since my surgery two weeks ago.

Prior to surgery a well seasoned egg white omelette was a the most common Breakfast meal for me, often with a side of Turkey sausage after my morning swims. I didn’t get to swim this morning, (at my check up last week my surgeon said I could resume this Thursday though 🤗) , but I prepared a ricotta egg white omelette season with a pinch of salt, turmeric, and coriander.

So far it’s going down slow and I’m feeling full quickly. I think I’ll probably put half away for tomorrow’s breakfast.

Readjusting portions will certainly be a learning curve.

Doing pretty good so far. On day 5 post op. For some reason I couldn't get warm yesterday (no fever) . Went to be early with a weighted blanket. That finally warmed me up. I tried the warmed up Premier Protein shake yesterday (chocolate peanut butter). What a difference that made. Hope everyone is doing well.

I bought a heated blanket right before my surgery and it’s been a lifesaver. It helped with pain, warmth/comfort, and sleep so much during my initial recovery

No, I'm travelling alone! My family can't travel with me over the hols, but it's the only time I can take off for the surgery, so needs must. I am using a Medical Tourism operator, though, so I'll have transfers sorted and will have a patient care coordinator checking on me a few times a day.

That is brill that you have an early surgery. I'm getting so excited, now!

Oh good point! Yes let's DM a bit to keep in touch.

I just got the pre op info today, with the liver reduction diet and the food stages...I am feeling like it hasn't really sunk in how life will look after this surgery. Trying to get my head in gear so that I'm not totally shocked by all the changes.

Is anyone working with a dietitian after surgery? I have access to an online nutritionist, but would probably like to work with someone who has experience with bariatric patients.

I'm going in the day after tomorrow and if not for these forums, I would have cancelled. I have been so depressed the last couple of days. I'm finding it hard to motivate.

I have had the feeling of wanting to cancel, too. But I've done so much up to this point, and I really do want to be on the other side of the procedure. So, I'm hanging in there and just taking things day by day, one foot in front of the other. Hugs. You've got this!

😳My date for sleeve is Dec 28. Trying not to get too stressed. Any surgery buddies?

I'm the 27th and we have a couple of 29ths on here. One of them is across the pond though, so she is really like the 28.5th to me, in the US. We are all buddies! lol

What is your program's pre-op? I have been on a full liquid diet for the past week and start clear liquids today. Fun. I've never looked so forward to "soft food" in my entire life. 😊

I have been unable to reach Tech Support to figure out my login issues and I prefer to use the app, so I am switching to a different username and account: Kimpossible00. I'll connect with you all under that account. Just know that it's still me.

It's amazing to me how different the pre-op liver shrinking diets are from place to place. I'm on a 14-day liver shrinking diet that includes two high Protein (30g) and a low carb (<30 g) shakes and then one extremely small meal with balanced macros. I'm just finishing day 6 and I would be lying if I said I wasn't hungry or dreaming about carbs.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
