Hello,

So my twin sister and I had our gastric sleeve surgeries on August 10th. Today was our first day being able to eat mushy food. We have noticed that we seem to be getting what seems like hunger pains. We first noticed it when we were on the all liquid diet but I thought it would get better once we started to eat real food. We thought it would be easy to get our Protein in once we ate real food but in reality it hasn’t been that easy. Has anyone else experienced this issue and is there anything that anyone suggests to help? Anything is much appreciated at this point. Thank you!!

I’m not on mushy food yet - still purées. But I have noticed that in the morning my stomach can bother me. I get a little nauseated because my stomach is empty. I take my morning pills (including my ppi) and then drink about .5 a Protein Shake and that seems to keep me ok. If I go to long without eating - I have that same feeling.

Hopefully you figure it out and you feel better soon.

So our surgeon had us on 3 weeks of a liquid diet and now starting our 4th week we can have mushy/puréed foods. I had a scrambled egg and about an hour and a half later had 1/4 cup of chicken noodle Soup. Eating every two hours or so seems a little inconvenient especially when I’m thinking about going back to work. But I guess This is my new life and I have to figure out what works. At least I’m not alone in the hunger feeling. I wish you well on your journey as well tho. 😁

I do feel hunger sometimes. More often I feel nauseous. I feel nauseous when I haven't eaten for a while, but I also feel nauseous after eating. I never really feel good.

I hope that's not my new reality.

I’m sorry you are not feeling really good. I hope that is not your new reality. I just assumed we wouldn’t really feel hunger anymore cause of the surgery. Or at east that is what I was told but it seems like I feel nothing but hunger lately. Or what I assume is hunger.

Are you on a PPI? Some people have excess acid and it feels like hunger but a PPI is supposed to help.

Wait for real? I didn’t know that was a thing!! Umm we have acid reducers but we haven’t taken them since before surgery.

Some people are put on PPI’s as a preventative for the acid. I was not one of them and didn’t have any issues but I see people talk about it on here all the time. I would definitely ask your team about it.

Yeah I’ll have to ask my team and see what they say. I didn’t think I was having an issue with acid cause I never had it come back up but it could be acid for sure especially since we had a little acid before surgery.

Ask your dr for some nausea meds. That’s not the norm to feel nauseous all the time.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
