Getting ready for my 1st weigh in and I'm under a couple lbs from a bmi of 40.
I'm just curious if this can disqualify me or will they work with me.

We cant tell you that. Every program and insurance have their own requirements. So you need to check to see what yours is. BUt very doubtful. Wear a weight belt when they weigh you lol

Also when they check your height, do it without shoes.

I've often seen that to qualify you have to have a BMI of at least 40 OR a BMI of at least 35 with at least one comorbidity (Ie: sleep Apnea, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.) It depends on your insurance requirements.

My nurse specifically told me if I dropped below a 40 BMI they would cancel my surgery. I told her God would have to intervene for that to happen, But if it did come close, I'd be sure to have a few rocks in my pocket on weigh-in day.

My insurance will cover the surgery, with a starting BMI of 35, with comorbidities - or starting BMI of 40, with no comorbidities.

They don't care how much weight I lose between now and surgery day, they go off of my starting weight.

You should be able to find the information that you're looking for, in the insurance company documentation.

Did you do your weigh in and meet with the team yet? I’m curious about how this one went. I’m hoping that like many of us you haven’t measured your height in years and you are shorter than you think so your bmi is actually above 40.

Keep lots of money in your pockets, wear some really heavy chunky jewellery and wear thin socks so that you are shorter when you take your shoes off to be measured. Good luck

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
