Yep my Dr and I just talked about this today and I asked her if I could use chewable Gas-X. She said she will not tell me no because she has said patients have told her gas x helps while others say it did nothing. She explained it the same way as Flab-U-Less, Gas X is for intestinal gas but some ppl seem to get relief from it.

I started taking it today. It's to soon to know if it helps.

I had my mini gastric bypass on April 26th and I’ve had non stop gas pain. GasX seems to work a little bit but not as much as I expected. I was vomiting for 24 hours straight post surgery and I kept taking gravol which of course made me drowsy . So I couldn’t walk as much as I had hoped. Today is the first day where I feel a tad better. I should mention though my heating pad was my saviour. Good luck with your progress.

Ok one more question. I know you are full with gas and that gas will leave your body. But today I've had horrible bubbling sounds in my gut and diarrhea. Are these sounds coming from my gut. Just gas from surgery trying to escape? What's in the world is going on

Only drinking Water, and broth. Eating only sugar free popsicles. I've tried the clear Protein Drinks but I can't finish them at all. The only thing I'm not doing for this stage is getting enough Protein. This morning im going to add powder protein to my broth.

do you not love the taste of the clear Protein Drink. There are so many different brands out there. The Protein Powder in the broth is fine if that works but if not keep trying the drinks and you should find one you like. I found that I only liked them ice cold so I would make small batches over ice. I have heard others who like all liquids room temperature. I never added Protein powder to my broth but I think it was lizonaplane that posted the tip to mix the powder with a small amount of cold Water and add that to the Soup. Apparently it gets clumpy if you add it to anything too hot.

Im actually worried about how I will get in the Protein post op myself. Still on liquid diet pre op currently (surgery sometime Tues). I am to the point I cannot stomach the chicken broth anymore. I have purchased some protein mix to mix with Water but it hasnt come in the mail yet.

I tried mixing one of the protein powders with Water and it was really gross. It wasn’t as bad with crystal light but I think I still had the bad taste in my memory (it was too soon) cause I couldn’t drink it all. Mine was GENEPRO which is supposed to be unflavored but I could taste it and so could my husband.

I change up between chicken and beef. I'm having to add protein powder to it because there's not much protein in broth. You can't put the powder in hot broth or Water because it Curdles. I wish clear protein didn't have a weird salty taste. Even the no sodium clear liquid has a salty taste.

Yes the unflavored still has a taste. It changes the taste of my broths too.

Yes the powder gets clumpy in hot liquids. I've tried Isopure clean liquid drinks, Gatorade Protein zero and protein20 in both natural and regular. (One has no sodium and one does). I don't like any of them. I can drink the Gatorade but it takes me all day to drink one 🤮. It all has a salty taste, kinda reminds me of Pedialyte.

Hummm… i liked the Premier Protein clear in fruit punch, but I like salt (I use way too much) so I wouldn’t have noticed if it was salty. I just asked my husband to taste it cause he is one that chooses to eat low sodium stuff and he said it wasn’t salty to him for what it’s worth. I wish they sold them in singles somewhere. All I could find was the case on Amazon so I had to take a chance and got lucky that I liked them. I was thinking that maybe a gas station would have them in singles??

I like salt too. Maybe salt doesn't exactly describe the taste. It's kinda hard to explain. I wasn't able to get the premier clear Protein. I didn't want to buy a case 🤷🏼‍♀️ Maybe be the premier is the one I should have gotten.

Yea with stuff like that and other lower calorie Snacks and stuff I have to order a large quantity of or when they are just crazy expensive to begin with I try to think of them as medicine for my body. Because maintaining a healthy weight does help keep you healthy. That helps me justify the expense in my mind. I get it though. Hate to be stuck with a whole case of something that wasn’t cheap to begin with. Hopefully the Protein powder in the Soup will work out and you will be off this stage soon enough anyways. If not they may have singles of it at convenience stores??

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
