Sharp burning pain under bellybutton

Recommended Posts

I’m 4 days post op and on Monday i felt this really sharp burning pain on my right side but a bit under my belly button. It still hurts every time I get up from bed or a chair. Sometimes when I sit down too or do a movement that triggers it. Anyone else feel this?

That is very normal. Each incision goes through skin, fat, muscle, etc. They are small, but they are VERY deep, and they take time to heal completely. Rest, use a pillow to brace for coughing/sneezing, and take meds to stay ahead of the pain if you need them. Thankfully, the pain usually subsides within a week or two. Hang in there!

I feel a lot better, mentally after reading this! Thanks! I was getting a bit worried 😅

All the prodding, pushing & pulling of all the laparoscopic instruments, etc. cause a lot of muscles strain & general internal bruising. The right side incision is from where they pull out your tummy which is possibly why it is more painful. If the discomfort persists, contact your surgeon just to be sure.

Yes, it's normal, and for me it persisted eight weeks post-op. But it got better every day. My surgeon was so completely unconcerned about it that it set me at ease.

Came here to ask this! Thanks for sharing! I’m 8 days post and it’s really the only pain I’m experiencing at this point.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
