I’m 9 months post op from having a gastric sleeve and have lost over 100lbs. I'm 9lbs from my goal but I noticed my lower stomach and upper pelvic region really sticks out and I was wondering if it'll ever go away? I haven't been thin or at a healthy weight since I was a pre teen so I can't even remember if I've had this issue back then.

Hi!

First, congratulations on the weight loss! Yay! 🎉💪🏼👍🏼

Second, i got down to a BMI 20 at my lowest weight (down from BMI 43) and i still had a noticeable (to me) lump on my pelvic region.

it only went away after i got a Tummy Tuck. But thats just me. Others may have got a different outcome.

P.S. This was me pre-plastics at about BMI 21. You can see my fupa trying to bust out of the top of the swim bottoms. 🤷🏻‍♀️ When i wore leggings i would joke that I was packing down there.

And I don’t think losing any more weight would have helped…

same here. It was "taken care of" when I got my lower body lift.

I’ll chime in too. Plastics took care of this for me as well. I had a big hanging apron of skin pre plastics. Now it’s gone.

Thank you for your response!! Congratulations to you as well🙌🏼 I’m planning on getting a Tummy Tuck within the next 4 years so hopefully it’ll help me too. I was just curious if anyone else had this issue since I didn’t notice it as much before. Then again my stomach was huge so anything else looked small in comparison so I guess that’s why I’m noticing it now.

Wow congratulations!! This is so an amazing accomplishment☺️ I plan on getting a Tummy Tuck eventually so hopefully then it’ll help make things look flatter and not as saggy as they are now

I definitely seem puffy in my nether regions, but I don't think I have the pain tolerance for plastics. I'm really impressed with y'all's results.

Who was your surgeon for plastics? You look amazing!!! Also, did he do your legs? I’m worried about my legs and of course my lower tummy. Thank you for any advice 🙏

I hear ya. Im pain adverse as well.

BUT. A temporary bit of pain is worth years of awesomeness, in my opinion lol.

Case in point: I just had another session of botox and fillers this morning and while i was almost in tears while i was in the chair, all is now forgotten as im totally loving my cheekbones now 😇 (as well as my non existent naso-labial lines!)

yeah, colour me VAIN.

Its all good.

I went to Dr. Alex Earle in Miami. He didn’t touch my legs, but the Tummy Tuck gave them a bit of a lift too. Down by my knees, not so much. A thigh lift will happen at some point but i just bought a home and am taking two big vacations this year so it’s been deferred.

How long were you in pain after plastics?

Well, there were varying degrees of pain so...

I can tell you that I had to take pain meds (oxy) for about a week after my plastics (as compared to after wls, when I didn't take any pain meds at all outside the hospital)

If i remember correctly, couldn't stand up straight for about 3-4 weeks due to the Tummy Tuck, and i couldn't raise my arms above my shoulders for about 4-5 weeks due to the arm lift. There was minimal breast lift pain, if at all.

I was probably completely pain free around the 3-4 month mark...but i had re-injured myself twice before that because I didn't listen to my doc about taking it easy (i was itching to go running and busted open my stitches in several places...TWICE...oops)

So if i didn't eff myself up, I probably would've been pain free much earlier.

Thank you for sharing your experience!! I was actually interested in the recovery process and pain as well since I’m looking into getting plastics soon

Like most surgeries, my first three days were rough. I did make myself start walking right away. First day wasn’t much, maybe a block or so. I slowly increased every day. I’ve always felt gentle exercise helps me with pain control, plus it’s good for prevention of post op complications like blood clots and pneumonia. By week three I was back to work full time as a nurse.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
