Pat you are better than I am. No I did not go for my walk. On my way to work this morning I talked to myself the whole way. I am going to walk today. So no my nails are not done and I did not go walking. I just get so mad at myself, but I guess not mad enough or I would do something about it.

Dianne, NO WAY am I better than you are about this! It's just that we've lived so long NOT doing much exercise, and it's like our eating habits.. it's hard to change! I still eat too fast and don't chew well enough. The difference is that we feel THAT negative effect immediately.

If we lived closer or worked near each other., we could be exercise buddies. My sister-in-law and I used to do that... We'd use the exercise room at another friend's apartment complex 2 or 3 days a week, but as usual, neither of use kept it up for long. I moved 20 miles away and it wasn't easy to do that anymore. It just felt like one more "failure" in my elusive search for lasting weight loss. I really didn't feel like it last night, but I just told myself I *had* to. Unfortunately I don't always listen to myself. Is there anyone at work that would walk with you?

I used to have a friend we would walk together at lunch, but she found another job about a year. After she left I got in the habit of just working through my lunch. I know it's a bad idea, But I always seem to have enough to do to just keep on working. I really do not have an excuss not to walk at lunch. Have a perfect place. I know I am not going to loose this weight without the exercise. My second fill is working on the Portion Control. I still have trouble eating a number of different foods. I get full fast. I also think it's my age. I know I will have to exercise to get my body in gear. Don't get me wrong, I did not pay 10,000 to give up.

I have been doing great, thanks for asking. My place is in Tira, TX USA population 248. It is in East Texas between Sulphur Springs and Paris.

Illion, did you win enough money to buy us all lunch?

Road King, did you get to go for a putt? It sure was a pretty week-end.

Cowboy sure is nice hearing from you. No I was not able to go riding. My husband has been having some serious health issues for the past year and for the last couple of weeks he has not been doing very well. It was really hard to come in to work today and leave him at home alone. We have tried to apply for disability for him, but our first try Cigna turned him down. So now we are in the appeal process. We have 4 doctors that say he should be on disability but Cigna is still fighting it. He will have one or two days where is does not feel to bad and then it's down hill for a couple of weeks. Sorry I don't mean to push all my negative going on's here.

My dog did take me for a couple of walks this weekend and I worked in the yard a little on Sunday.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Good morning all! What a gorgeous weekend we had!

Cowboy, unfortunately this was NOT one of my better days at Winstar. To make it worse, I'ved got a businessUgh! But hey.. why don't you invite us all out to your ranch for a Texas-style BBQ?? ;) Just one chicken could feed all of us! *LOL*

Woohoooooo... I went shopping yesterday- and bought slacks TWO sizes smaller than the last ones! It felt really strange to be shopping on the "skinny" side of Dress Barn! I just couldn't help myself.. I had to tell *somone*, so I mentioned to the (very overweight) saleslady that it was a sort of celebration for me, because I'd had lap-band surgery in January. Well, that opened up an entire conversation because she told me she was having the gastric sleeve surgery this Wednesday. She was sooooo excited! We talked a while, and it felt so good to be sharing and encouraging to someone else who's about to embark on this journey to better health, although via a different route. I can't wait to go back and see her a whole lot thinner!

How was everyone's weekend?

Oops... I got interrupted in the middle of my post so some of it didn't make any sense.. sorry about that! I was "going to say" that to make things worse, I've got a business trip (HONEST!) to Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Dianne, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's health problems. I hope he'll feel better soon. Insurance companies can be so difficult, can't they. Sometimes I wonder if it's even worth it. We pay our premiums then have to fight with them to get the benefits we've paid for. (Don't get me started!!) Most of us here had to pay for our own surgeries, I think.

You'll both be in my prayers. I'm sure this is just as difficult for you as it is for him. Hugs to you!

Thanks Pat. My husband has Hep C and Cirrhoisis. He was diagnosised about 10 years ago. Has tried the treatements for Hep C, but was a non responder. He has been fighting extreme fatique for about 4 years now, but his systems are starting to get alot worse. We try to keep positive and hope soon they will put him on a liver transplant list. The new liver is the only hope he has. I wish we could get his disability approved, then I would stop working and stay home with him. I keep saying God does not give us something if he feels we can't handle it. I have to believe God knows what he is doing. Sorry I keep crying today. But I really had a tough weekend. Tomorrow will be better.

Dianne

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
