People the consipation is real. Green veggies or no green veggies, Fiber or no fiber, laxative or no laxative. The struggle is soooooo very real. What can I do to get some kinda regular???? Hell I will settle for once or twice a week!!

I second @Queen ApisM. I take Miralax almost every day (except lately I've been having diarrhea for some reason). You can't just take it once; it takes a few days to start working. The one thing about Miralax is you need to be hydrated really. I find it's least noticeable in Hot Drinks or room temp drinks, and not water! If your drink is cold, it needs to be stirred longer.

If it's been a few days since you've pooped, consider a glycerin suppository. I had to do that a few times right after surgery. Not fun, but worked in about 30 minutes.

We just can't eat enough fiber to make a difference, and sometimes the fiber drinks aren't very helpful for post-surgery.

Also, some people like magnesium citrate. I didn't find that to be as helpful as the Miralax.

Agree with everything @lizonaplane said. I have a regimen for Miralax - every other day. If things are really regular I will extend to 1x every three days but find every other works well without getting too far the other direction! I also agree on the hot drinks. I mix it in tea and it dissolves immediately, no flavor, it's great. I would try it out and if you like it, you can get large containers of generic Miralax at costco or any of those club-type stores.

Yes, you can also take half-doses, or twice a day if you really need to. If you start getting diarrhea, be even more careful about keeping hydrated.

I work in cancer research and it's safe enough to give to kids with cancer, so it's pretty low risk (but talk to your doctor to be sure!).

Also, coffee does the trick for me sometimes! And my surgery center said drinking enough fluids and being more active help.

Like everybody else said, Miralax is your friend. I got lucky and didn't have any Constipation.

Yep - I've taken a capful of Miralax every morning for the last six or so years. It usually does the trick - although still maybe once a month or so I'll get backed up - but a night or two of milk of magnesia will usually fix that. My doctor said daily Miralax is fine, but check with yours just in case.

Early out I had to use the soluble fiber in my crystal light every morning. Walmart generic for benefiber.

It may be something that you've already tried so apologies if so, but my Constipation always seems to come when I haven't been good with my Water intake. As soon as I concentrate on getting more in then it seems to ease off.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
