February 2022 Surgery Buddies

Recommended Posts

I don't know when my surgery date is yet, but I have a TNE appointment today. Then next week I get to talk with my dietitian and nurse practitioner and then my cardiologist. Hopefully after all of those appointments, I will get to get my surgery date. Hopefully at the end of January beginning of February. 😁💜

My date is on Feb 3rd, I’m in Toronto and they have been cancelling non urgent surgeries now I’m scared mine will be postponed. Fingers crossed, I’ve been on the Optifast for the last week and really don’t want to have to do it all over again.

My surgery, gastric bypass from sleeve is set for February 2. This is the third date. First delay due to schedule conflict for Dr and hospital, second delay because my husband had Covid and so now my fingers are crossed for February 2, 2022. Best of luck and positive thoughts for everyone on this journey!

Hey all! I'm also scheduled for Feb 3rd and I'm getting the sleeve here in the Los Angeles area. I started this process back in August, and now that I'm weeks away, it's a little overwhelming. I'm mostly really excited, so I'll focus on that emotion as much as possible.

I am also scheduled for the sleeve on February 3 in Georgia. My pre-op diet will begin on the 20th, so right now I am working on tracking Protein, sipping Water all day, and trying to eliminate Diet Coke. That has been much harder than I anticipated! I am excited for everyone!

I am off caffeine completely now. Headaches from the caffeine withdrawal are gone too. This weekend I stop all sweets. These are usually treats. I do have a big sweet tooth so I am not looking forward to this one. I might start adding Protein Shakes to get around the no sweet rule hahaha

@MimmyMim it is helpful to start tracking early so you get into good habits now. I am going to try starting that too. I am a bit nervous about sipping Water instead of guzzling it down like I do now.

How is everyone doing?

I'm lucky with the caffeine. Just a unsweet iced tea a couple times a week. Stopped those this week. Glad that's not permanent! It's nice to have something to drink besides Water since I don't like coffee of any kind.

Nutritionist recommended Unjury chicken Soup whey Protein Powder to make broth. Apparently the taste is amazing and the extra Protein makes it more filling. You can only order it on the UNJURY website.

I like Premiere Protien shakes, Optimum Whey Protien powders and ProtienO2 water. Concerned I won't be able to all the Protien I need all the time, so I also bought some unflavored Optimum Whey Protien powder to add to food. Nutritionist recommended whey Protien when using powders. You can get the Optimum and ProtienO2 from Amazon. I used Subscribe and Save to get up to 15% off.

I also bought a highly-rated bariatric cookbook by Sarah Kent ($10 on Amazon). It helped me feel more optimistic about food post-recovery. I'm going to try some of the recipes before surgery to know what I like now and not when I'm hangry.

One question for everyone...you going to use a post-surgery abdominal binder? Getting very mixed messages about those.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
