Hi all!

Im 4 weeks post op.

I had surgical glue on my wounds which has now all come off. But ive noticed that it gets so itchy around the incision sites and theres a couple red bumps around them too. It was all fine when the glue was still on, had no issues with that so i dont think it could be an allergic reaction. Its just started up since the glue has come off.

Has anyone experienced something like this?

Im a nurse with some wound training, the wounds are healing quite well, no signs of infection or anything but my god this itchiness around them! Just havent heard of itchy bumps around the wounds before🥴

If it keeps up much longer ill be contacting the surgeon!

Yup, itched like a mofo. Almost invisible a year later :)

Itching is a common symptom of a drastic condition known as 'healing.'

Unless it's red and angry which could mean you've been scratching, in which case: Stop it! Let it heal. If you don't believe it's from scratching, then it could be, an infection, dermatitis, an autoimmune disorder, or a rare Amazonian parasite [In order of most likely to least likely]. It's never Lupus.

If it's red and angry not from scratching, perhaps a call to Doc.

If it looks ok, it's healing.

Good luck,

Tek

The itchiness we all know is a sign of healing but the little bumps is odd. Couldn’t hurt to put a call into your surgeon.

Oops, I missed the bumps! Drat! You made me seem the ignorant slob that I am in real life and not the clever arudite I pretend to be on the internet.

Damn you for revealing my error!

It's still never Lupus. So there!

Good luck

I agree with Hop_Scotch here. It sounds like contact dermatitis. You could be reacting to the glue. I'm guessing it was healing well at your postop visit. Being a nurse, you'd likely know if it were infected. If you are concerned, contact your surgeon, they can diagnose it and hopefully provide some peace of mind.
As for the itching, ice packs have helped calm my past incisions as they healed. Good Luck!

I am 1 week post-op and I have the same thing on 1 out of 2 of my incisions and my doctor just told me to try to not wear a bra because any kind of build up of moisture, sweat, all that good stuff can create irritation for the incision sites. Just put some A&D around the bumps not the incision and it will help calm the itching sensation down. Works miracles for me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
