Frequency of fills

I was banded on 9/5, and have been filled twice. The second time it was so tight I was foaming because I couldn't even get down spit. (But, I was stupid, told the doc I was fine and left. Three hours later, I called back and had an un-fill...Lesson learned.)

My concern is this: I know I can be too tight, so I'm not "leaking" Fluid, but the second fill was the 19th of November, and I had restriction for a good two weeks...And now nothing. This happened with my first fill, too. It's not really gradual, either. One day I have good restriction, and the next day *almost* nothing. It also seems to happen after/during my mentrual cycle; not sure if it's related so I thought I'd mention it in case it is.

The only thing keeping me from gaining is my knowing what I should and shouldn't eat. But, to me that's a lot like the diets I was on before and I'm scared I'll "fall off the wagon" without the restriction that I've felt with the fills.

I've called my doctor's office and the nurse is hesitant to keep giving me fills so quickly, and tells me to wait a while and just "follow the diet".

What is the frequency of your fills? Do you feel consistent restriction, or does it loosen gradually or all of a sudden? What is the trigger for you to know you need one?

Thanks all.

I had no restriction after my first fill, but I definitely had restriction after my second. It lasted a little over a week, now I'm hungry again. But I found I cannot eat as much as I was able to after my surgery and after my first fill.

I don't think your situation sounds that unusual. I've been banded three years and there were times a .5 fill (early on) was just not enough. I would call and discuss it again with the doc to get a new fill going on.
