Woah, I’m 29th September in UK. Gastric bypass. It’s both exciting & scary! Have people had quite prescriptive Pre-op liver shrinking diets? Also my doc has recommended 6 weeks to recover. I’m thinking best to book more than you need & go back to work earlier. Than book 2 weeks & need 6! Anyway everyone ok this group seems super supportive which is great!

I am taking 2 weeks off from work, but 4 weeks off from traveling for work (very frequent in my job). If I had taken more time, I would have needed to take short term disability and my pay would have been reduced for that time. I have talked to a lot of people that only needed one or two weeks. I know since I'll be working from home for an additional two weeks at least that I can take a short nap if I get tired. If I have to take more time due to a complication, I will just talk to HR and deal with that.

My shrink the liver diet is just low carb, low fat, high Protein, and lots of non-starchy veggies. No carbonation, no caffeine, and no alcohol. I think I am supposed to have a shake or yogurt in the morning for Breakfast. I start that on the 30th of August.

I just had my appointment to set my surgery date yesterday. I didn’t realize yesterday’s appt was to set a date within 30 days. So by my surprise my date is September 29th. **** just got real! 😳 Excited and nervous. I have only had general anesthesia once to take out my molars 🤣 The only other major surgery was a C-section, I asked my surgeon if any of his female patients can compare the pain to that and he honestly has never asked. If any of you have had a c-section before I am curious if it is similar or less pain than that. Thanks!

My wife had 2 C sections and I have known people getting the sleeve. The people that got the sleeve were up and functioning fully a LOT sooner. Think about the incision. For the C section it is a large cut all the way through and with the sleeve you have only small incisions. I think the danger of it breaking open and the sheer pain would be much worse with the C section. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I'm out for September. [emoji24]

In the beginning of the month I got diagnosed with covid, bronchitis and pneumonia. I have been on oxygen for a while so my lungs are shot and the surgery is canceled until further notice. I guess it's just not my time yet.

I wish you all the very best in your journey!!!! I'll probably be stepping back from the platform for a while and focus on healing up [emoji4]

Congratulations everyone!

Tough break. I have been keeping myself clear of people for the past couple weeks to ensure I don't pick up the virus. less than a week to stay clear and get this done.

Sept 14 nervous about starting pre diet

Don’t sweat it. It is not nearly as bad as it seems. Stick to it as they lay it out and it will be fine. Hardly hungry at all and I am almost 2 weeks into the preop diet.

My surgery is on the 7th. Getting sooo excited. Started my liver shrinking VLCD diet on Monday, doing okay but feeling hungry. Hoping I'll shed a few pounds before surgery.

14th September here. There's no pre-op diet for me other than one day of Clear Liquids on the 13th and NPO the 14th, but I've been weaning myself off caffeine, sugar, and alcohol and reducing the intake so that I don't go from, say, 2,700 calories a day to 300 overnight. Hungry but not as hungry as I thought I would be. Covid test is tomorrow (seems odd given that it's still 2.5 weeks until surgery), labs and scans Monday, pre-op meeting is 2nd September.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
