Hi everyone!

My surgery is scheduled for July 22nd. 🎉

Is there anyone else that has their surgery booked in for July already?

Oooh so exciting! I don't know my details yet. I still have to go see the dietician in a few weeks and I have to do 3 weeks pre op diet [emoji51]

Provisionally booked for July 4th - saw my surgeon today and that’s the date we agreed upon now to wait and see if the approval comes through.

I have my VSG booked for 27th July -- impatiently counting down the days 📆🤩 Meanwhile I am doing all the research I can on how to best prepare myself mentally for this huge change.

What is everyone else up to in these exciting weeks before? @MoreThanWords @Steveo2ray @CzarinaQ @motherofboys @LizzLosingIt @Sammys_VSG_Evolution @laurenantics @Karriekuddles

@Seija For me, I'm tasked with losing 25 pounds before surgery. Also, since I have to take a little time off of work to heal, I'm kicking my A$$ at work because I'm on commission. So, I'm hustling as hard as I can to make up for the lost time in July.

Also, in addition to researching I've been "nesting" and purchasing things I'll need for post op - such as Vitamins, Bone Broth, Protein Shakes, gas x... I'm hoping to be 100% prepared so there are no surprises.

Don't do the band. A lot of people have had problems with them, and most surgeons won't place them anymore. Either sleeve or bypass are good options. If you have GERD, they'll usually recommend that you go with bypass. If not, it comes down to personal preference.

I had bypass and have been extremely happy with it. I'd make the same decision if I had to choose today (had mine six years ago).

P.S. My recovery was super easy. It seems to be for most of us (not all - but most)

I’m researching all the things I’ll need so I have in the house ready. I finish school on Thursday July 1st then have a weekend with my sons before the surgery on July 4th....

LRD begins June 20th - The Dietitian has said my LrD will be meal based so trying to work out how to calculate Protein etc so I don’t go wrong - she said I shouldn’t do any shakes and 3meals a day which is going to be a nightmare already trying to get the Fluid intake in when no bottles are allowed in the class

she also said My Protein is not approved by Dept of health where I am and pushing for me to buy Optifast (reminds me of Slimfast In the uk 🤮🤢) plus is $50 per box/pack and if I don’t like then it’s a waste of money

I want to start meal prep so I’ll only have to be preparing meals for my children and husband after surgery and not cooking meals for myself and them

excited but stressing out as I’d planned everything then the dietitian put a spanner in the works

food plans are all different, but your dietitian sounds pickier than most... they usually don't care about the brand as long as it's the right kind of protein. Also, most of us do drink shakes the first few weeks or months after surgery ( i still do at six years out... but then, I'm one of those rare people who likes them..)

I’m on my last week of birth control since I have to get off of it for one month prior and one month after... not starting a new pack even though the days don’t align perfectly.
mom only required to do a two-week diet, so I’m using these weeks prior to that time to have my “final meals” with stuff I’ve already purchased so it won’t go to waste. Enjoying my last bits of fruit juices, ice creams, rice (which is HUGE in my culture). Stopped buying snack foods since I won’t finish them all. Stopped buying new clothes back in April when I started the process. I’m nervous for July 4th weekend since my surgery is on the 9th. I want to be able to enjoy myself and food just feels like such a big factor in doing so. My family and friends are extremely supportive and said they’d help find foods I can still enjoy that fit my low fat diet but still sort of nervous of inconveniencing people.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
