I have had no issues getting enough Protein and I'm usually 90-100. I always start with 1 egg, 1 egg white, 1 oz cheese for Breakfast. Morning snack almost always a cheese stick and 1/2 tbsp Peanut Butter. lunch - usually 3-4 Turkey Deli Slices with some mayo and a cheese stick (or slice of cheese). Afternoon snack - varies sometimes 1/2-1 Protein Bar (i.e. Built Bar), or turkey pepperoni stick, or greek yogurt. dinner chicken or turkey. In addition, I have either Fairlife Milk or Premier Protein in my Decaf coffee twice a day. (I put Inulin Fibre in my coffee too)

...there is vegetables and fruit too! I just did not list them :)

Fluids certainly the harder struggle for me. At least I get 16 oz X2 w/ the coffee, but Water can be a problem. I aim for 6 cups a day, don't always meet it.

BTW, I'm pretty sure I have a cheese stick with Peanut Butter addiction. I have seriously had that everyday since I was allowed Peanut Butter LOL

HOw many calories a day are you taking in?

I had my surgery May 23,3021, I’m struggling getting my Protein and Water in still anyone else still having this problem

Here is a random day in my log:

Breakfast: 1/2 a scrambled egg, 1 turkey sausage link, 1/4 biscuit

snack: premier shake

lunch: 1/2 seared tuna salad

snack: coffee with milk, a bite of a donut

dinner: 2-3 oz grilled chicken with grilled veg

1/2 ear corn on cob

so this totaled 633 calories, 69g Protein, 37g net carb and I had about 64oz Water. And honestly I probably ate another snack after dinner that I forgot to log so it may have been closer to 800 calories.

I always have 1 Protein Shake a day and that's half my protein needs so it's easier to get the other 30g through food. My hunger levels vary so some days I may only eat 600 calories and some days it's over 1000.

Still doing well. No issues with any foods that I've tried. Depending on the food, I can eat about a cup or a little more now. Always stop when I start to feel that full feeling. I never push the limits or over stuff myself. Still basically follow the guidelines on the amounts of food I should be eating suggested by the nutritionist. And I make an effort to eat 3 times a day.

I do not drink nearly as much Water as originally suggested (I get in roughly 45 oz now, not 64, including my morning coffee) but I spoke to the nutritionist and surgeon about it and they said as long as my urine was light/clear, not to worry about it. And it is, so I don't.

Was cleared a few weeks ago to use weights but haven't started yet. I have however invested in a crosswalk treadmill that I found on FB marketplace for cheap. I walk for 30 min each day at a good pace of about 3.3-3.5 mph (using the crosswalk feature). I may start doing that twice a day soon.

And finally, as of today I am down 57 lbs since May 19th (surgery day) and a total of 75 lbs since March 1st.

Hope you all are doing well too!

I crossed into onderland yesterday. I am 14 weeks post-op tomorrow. Down 45.2.

Getting all my Protein and Water. No food issues. About 3-4oz of protein and I’m full. Makes it hard to incorporate veggies, but I try. 3 weeks until I go on vacation for 2 weeks. That will be the real test…

I’m actually feeling pretty great. Tolerating food well and sticking to the plan. High Protein, low carb, low fat. Avoiding all the bad stuff. I still find myself relying a lot on Protein Shakes to hit my protein goals. My weight loss slowed in July and my dietician told me I was pushing too hard with working out and not getting enough protein. Go figure 🤷🏽‍♀️ I started pushing for 70-90 grams of protein a day and just walking and went back to 3-4lbs weight loss per week. I’m officially down 65lbs and have a lot more energy. I hope everyone else is doing well. This journey has had its ups and downs, but it’s been worth it.

Doing well. Sunday marks 4 months since surgery. I’m down 52lbs since surgery and 67 since pre op diet started. food has begun to taste better to me which is both good and bad news. I reigned myself in after a holiday weekend with family centered around food. It was a good reminder that what got me to 277 lbs is still in and around me. Thankfully, I’m still only able to consume about 5-6 oz at a time. I drink a Protein Shake almost daily to bump up Protein as I’m not able to consume enough food to get there without. Am always working to get enough Water tho. All in all I’m great and so thankful I had this surgery.

I love hearing from you all!

I’ll be 5 months post Surgery tomorrow. .8 shy of 60lbs lost…which when I first talked to my surgeon I said I’d be happy just losing 60lbs. I am comfortable in my body again, but the weight loss will continue. New goal - get to a “healthy” BMI.

I made it thru a 2 week vacation at Walt Disney World …where I didn’t lose, came home up a measly 0.6lbs. Lost 8.2 in the 3 weeks since I got home. So that’s a positive. The trip did not derail my progress.

I am headed to Disney World in April and a little nervous about food options. Any thing you t recommend or don’t recommend?

@CJEE I found it pretty easy to find options. Especially at the sit down restaurants. I always looked ahead of time to see if they had something I could eat. Sometimes it might be a Turkey sandwich …but I just ate the inside (well what I could, portions are huge). A lot of places have chicken breast as an option with the kids meals. If my friend wanted the same entree as me, we would share. My favourite picture to post is this one from Saana - kids meal is huge! I just ate about 3-4 chicken pieces with the toppings and and a few green Beans.

We we’re staying off-site so Breakfast & dinner we’re at the timeshare. I also brought Snacks - like cheese sticks, Turkey, Protein Bars to the park.

Less than a week before gastric bypass surgery. I'm nervous but excited. Been lurking here for a while, reading. I'm about ready as I'm going to get. Down 20 pounds in 3 months. A ton of pre op testing done and cleared. Food/drinks, chewable vitamins, protein, meds bought. On 2-week preop diet now which includes 2 protein shakes a day along with 3 ounces lean protein and 2 1/2 C.  non starchy veggies and is totally do able for me. Clear liquid day before surgery. A full sugar Gatorade night before  and again 2 hrs before arriving at the hospital. Interesting how different everyone's diets are depending on your doctor.
      I'm optimistic all will go well. Good luck to the April surgeries happening this month and to all that are going through the process.  {{hugs}}

195 weight when I went in for surgery
199 weight when I got home for surgery
193.2 weight 4 days after surgery
If the inflammation from surgery is resolved, I've lost 1.8lbs in 4 days.

Had surgery last Thursday, so I've been home for 2 days as of 15 minutes ago.  I weighed more when I got discharged than when I went in despite only having eaten a Jello cup in 2 days, but I put that down to inflammation. This morning I weighed a little less than I went in.  I sneezed last night and my fiance saw me cry for the first time, and we've been together 16 years. I took my multivitamin first thing this morning and threw up. Kept it down after drinking 4oz protein shake. Yogurt gives me diarrhea, water hurts more than the fuller liquids, and my stomach is turning somersaults and I think I'm hungry because I'm used to interpreting it that way, but I have no desire to eat.
My biggest problem is that I am used to being busy.  I own a business and I've been getting active on these boards, and when I'm on my laptop I forget to drink. Will I hurt myself if I drink faster?  I've been scheduling 4oz every 30 minutes with breaks before and after meals.  Is it too fast to drink 4 oz in 15 min to get caught up on what I missed?

      tl:dr at bottom,
I could use some advice. I went to see my dietician today (not a bariatric surgery dietician, I can explain why I am seeing her if you want to know). She knows I am going to have weight loss surgery as long as I hit the goal weight my insurance told me I need to be at. I have to be at the goal weight by June 24, 2023, in order for my insurance to pay for my surgery.
I had a weigh in the doctor's office a couple of days ago and weighed 301, my scale at home said 302. However, on the same day, the scale at a friend's house said 313.
I knew I had this Dietician appointment two days later and I knew she would weigh me. I continued to weigh myself at home (after getting new batteries) and I was at 302 then 299 and today at home I weighed 303, right before my appointment, when I got to her office I was weighed and it said 313.
I am concerned about what to believe since the doctor's office and my scale show similar numbers. I also bought a new scale today and it said 313.
The Dietician told me I needed to eat more protein, which honestly I struggle with. she said I needed 150 grams!!  I said are you kidding? that seems like a lot.  She used my weight to come up with this number.
Should I really be trying to eat enough protein for a 300-lb person or should I be eating protein for a goal-weight person (mine is 170)?
also, my clothing is loose like I lost the 20 lbs mine and the doctor's scale shows, and not 10 lbs like everyone else's scale shows. Also, I have always naturally been more muscular even when I was 120 lbs and did not eat any protein aside from what is in plants.
tl:dr- should I be eating enough protein to support a 300lb person or should I be eating protein for a "normal" sized person? AND should I trust the Doctors scale more so than the Dietician's scale?

I had the same issue. My scale was 6 pounds heavier than my bariatric doctor's. My scale agreed with my nutritionist's scale. I asked my bariatric doctor to have her scale recalibrated and she said it was a really expensive scale, so she trusted it. So, when it comes down to it, the scale that matters isn't the one that's right, it's the one that determines if you get your surgery or not. I would ask her when it was last calibrated and see if she will calibrate it. The difference is I Iost weight so well on the lifestyle change diet that I had to stop losing weight or risk not getting the surgery.
