Yes I went from 312 to 290 in the first two weeks . Yesterday I weighed myself and it went to 289 but I’m looking for the same weight lost as the first two weeks.

If you do a quick search on this site, you will find MANY posts about stalls during this process, especially during the 3-5 week period. It is quite normative. Check out the site and those postings. Hopefully that will help reduce your anxiety and help you consider realistic expectations of this process to help reduce your frustration.

Still haven't budged much. I've only lost 4lbs in the last six days, as oppose to the 2lbs I was dropping a day for the first 2 weeks. I've been the same weight for the last 3 days. :( I got really depressed this morning. I feel like I have and am sacrificing too much to be experiencing this right now.

I hear that you're frustrated. But, there are normative changes during this process. Maybe some searches on the site about stalls will help you create some realistic expectations of this process. That usually helps people reduce their emotional distress because they are more prepared for the ebb and flow after WLS.

Wow! Thank you for the advice and encouragement! These are actually really, really good ideas.

I had started to feel very hopeless for a second. I still kind of do. I haven't walked in a few days because I feel like its pointless.

I can admit that I don't consume a lot of veggies. I never have been a vegetable person and I knew this would be an issue. I haven't even tried a salad due to the dressing that I would crave on it, and the fact that I have been warned by my dietician not to consume any raw foods.

But I've been pretty big on the Protein heavy foods. Crab, tuna, turkey...I've had eggs once in the last week...protein shakes. I've only been drinking iced lemon Water. I have eaten some Good Health Sea-Salted Avocado Oil chips (not a lot); small pieces of Avocado toast on Sourdough bread. I tried making a Avocado sauce but I put too much cilantro in it and I didn't like the taste.

I really can't believe that I am not consuming any refined sugar foods, not a lot of carbs, etc. and the scale is just stuck. But I am going to try some of these ideas.

Is bread approved on your plan at this point?

I made a post about my confusion surrounding my food plan and I didn't get a lot of feedback.

bread is not on my list of approved foods, but its also not on my list of foods to limit or avoid altogether. I'm not quite sure why.

I should probably send my dietician a message about this. But "soft" foods are what was specified, and she did say that everything I can have is not specified on the list. However what I can't have is made very clear and I have stayed away from.

I know people have said that they personally try to avoid bread altogether because of its lack of nutritional value and gateway ability to lead to other carbs, but...yeah....

Yes, a message or call to the dietitian sounds like a good idea. My program lists no bread, crackers, Pasta, Cereal, rice, etc. at all within the first 6 weeks during healing and surgery recovery. Plus, does not help with weight loss. The carbs probably deter progress. I think it's also something about swelling in the tummy.

I wonder how I can find that post about your confusion about your food plan. I'm guessing most people will refer you to your program since they are all so different, but, yes, there are some basics that are pretty similar across programs.

Maybe checking out some of the recipe posts on this site will help also. Helped me figure out some healthy yet flavorful options.

I was in the middle of a very long response to this before and then the window closed 😕 I will try to remember all that I wrote.

I have a whole Gastric Sleeve recipe book which is really awesome.

But the issue with that is a lot of the recipes incorporate food that I don't like. Again, a very big issue that I contemplated before surgery and plagues me now that its over, is the fact that I don't like vegetables. Never have, since I was child. The only kinds of vegetables that I can stomach are seasoned Spinach, Broccoli, mixed vegetables, and Edamame (but I'm not even sure that counts as a vegetable). Onions, peppers, mushrooms, etc....I can't. Hell, I can't eat a salad unless its masked by ranch or Caesar dressing.

I even tried cauliflower and I am one of the very few that found it to be gross. I don't think it tastes like "nothing" or whatever you want it to taste like, as many have claimed.

But I have also not consumed chocolate, candy, cake, donuts, anything fried, bacon, soda, Arizona green tea, heavy cream, whole milk, cereal, ice cream, Pasta, rice....nothing that used to make my heart sing (honestly) so its a bit of a slap in the face to just be stalled out at 320lbs.

I haven't even walked in the past few days because I feel like its a waste.

Perhaps it may come up under my screen name? I'm not sure.

Your response made me laugh. Not liking onions, peppers, mushrooms, and cauliflower does not sabotage weight loss, lol. But, not continuing to stick to your plan will probably dampen your mood a bit more because that won't help you get out the stall. This process is a journey as others have said.

I'm glad that many people responded to your post with support, but also taking about the reality of this process.

Talking with your dietitian seems to be the best next step. And, since you have questions about your food plan, I would just stick to whatever information is provided on the list of foods for your current stage until you speak with the dietitian so you dont choose something that might impact your tummy, healing process, or weightloss without realizing it.

Good luck, and it's way to early to say it's a waste. So, hopefully you will move past that mindset soon. Good night.

Omg I thought something was wrong with me. I’m experiencing the same problem. This is my 3rd week post-op, and this stall is driving me nuts. Think I’m going back to the liquid stage for at least 2 weeks.

stalls are a normal part of weight loss. I think your body just has to stop once in awhile and recalibrate before it goes on. Almost everyone here has that early stall (within the first month post-op). No need to go back to a liquid diet. Just stick to your eating plan and stay off the scale for a few days. The stall WILL break and you'll be on your way again.

I'm happy to say that the scale has begun to slowly yet surely move again. I'm only 3 additional pounds down, but I'm still happy to see a change. I really was going into a pretty bad funk.

if you stick to your program, you WILL lose the weight, whether fast or slow. I was a slow loser from the get-go and ended up losing all of my excess weight. Your ultimate success is due to your level of commitment - not how fast or slow you lose the weight.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
