Any good post op pureed/liquid food recommendations?

Recommended Posts

I am coming up fast on my surgery, 3 days and counting. So I am attempting to food prep for recovery since I have 4 children ramging in age from 11 months to 12 years old., my hubby will have his hands full trying to take over as Mr Mom while I recover for the first 2 weeks.

I am hoping to have easy recovery meals planned out for me so all he has to do is microwave them for me or I can just throw them together easily.

I am planning so far on mostly pureed Soups but mostly because I cant think of other things that appeal to me. Blending eggs is just not something I am going to be able to do. I dont eat fish, canned chicken, eggs, greek yogurt, cottage cheese or tuna. In the nutrition class that was almost all the recommended things. 🤦‍♀️

I have tried since october to be get use to cottage cheese, greek yogurt and canned chicken. But I havent been able to stomach any of it.

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

check the blog "the World According to Eggface". She's a long time vet and loves to cook - she has lots of recipes for all stages

I am right there with you. Mine is on the 24th. I have two boys but my husband doesn’t do kids well at all.... so my kids are spending the week with my parents while I recover.

Eggfaces ricotta bake looks super good but that’s for later.
I don’t like a lot of their options they gave me for when I am finally ready for real food, canned chicken ? Yuk. tuna? Never going to happen. When I do finally get to real food the pulled rotisserie chicken package from costco is really moist and I can freeze and pull as needed.

I haven’t prepped a bunch of food yet. I am prepping some sugar free Jello Protein “shots” for post surgery. I have broths ready to go. Unflavored Protein Powder. I have some powdered potato (mix with broth and protein powder).

My plan has me on liquids for at least two weeks post op. So I haven’t bought a ton of stuff yet. I figured I would buy as I need.

I made chicken In the insta pot at that stage and it was very moist. I think that is the point of using canned. Maybe your dietitian will allow that.

What about regular plain yogurt with a bit of splenda/stevia/vanilla/honey? Goat cheese? (Not sure what is allowed as I'm several month prior to surgery, but I like food). Refried Beans with cheese? I hit a wall with Protein Drinks this morning and I'm not a fan of eggs so I'm trying to find ideas for Protein heavy breakfasts now, and I get it that trying to get yourself to eat something YOU JUST DON'T LIKE is not going to work!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
