Excruciating Pain Post OP

Recommended Posts

Hey all. I had my sleeve 3/18. I am 3 days post op and in excruciating pain. Particularly one incision where they put the staple gun in me and pulled out my excess stomach. The doc said they put a suture in my abdomen so I don’t get a hernia and this seems to be the cause of my pain. It literally hurts to sit, stand, squat, wipe, etc. is anyone else experiencing this intense level of pain from their suture/incision site? It is almost debilitating and I am contemplating callin my dr first thing in the am or going to the Er.

i'd go to the er if you can -- better safe than sorry, and they can do something for the pain!

I did have quite a bit of post-op pain (I also had a hiatal hernia fixed, so perhaps that was part of it). I called my surgeon's office and explained that I was in a lot of pain and needed something more for pain control. The office called in a prescription for a stronger pain med, my sister picked it up for me and it did the job. I'd definitely call tomorrow, they should be willing to work something out to get you more comfortable. Hugs.

Hopefully you already did something about this but if doctor office is closed they should have someone on call that you can talk to but if you are contemplating going to ER you probably just should. Trust your body. If it says something is wrong it probably is.

@jnfinney Im doing better! Thank you for asking about me. 🥰
I called my dr. and they said to take Tylenol in between the oxy doses. I am using a binder and I got a compression tank top and it is a game changer. I also started using a heating pad and it’s helped a lot too. Im finding that a lot of it is just learning how to manage the pain and adapt around it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
