Hey guys...

I'm still a newbie to the site and am at the very beginning of this process. Although I'm learning a lot, I've never had surgery before so I'm a little nervous. My big question right now is about the breathing tube. Does it hurt?

Any input you guys can give would be great! Congrats to you all!

My band was my first surgery as well. Most often, the breathing tube is put in place after you're asleep and removed before you're awake, or at least before you'll have conscious memory.

I have heard of the breathing tube being left in until the patient removes it, as a sign that they're awake and able to breathe on their own, but thank goodness I've not yet experienced that in my 2 surgeries.

I had a breathing tube but didn't even know it - I wasn't awake for either it going in or coming out. This was my first surgery.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

breathing/endotracheal tubes are placed after you're asleep because the gag and cough reflexes are mostly gone by then. i've had a few surgeries and all i've every had was a sore throat. some ice chips usually do the trick though.

The breathing tube was the worst part of the surgery for me. It gave me a terrible sore throat and I had a hard time in recovery with it and had to take a throat spray to numb my throat to relieve the pain.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
