Goal rewards—suggestions?

Recommended Posts

What are some things you plan on rewarding yourself with as you hit your weight-loss goals? (Or health/fitness goals, etc.)

I can only come up with a few:

-new leggings
-new Fitbit band (old one getting too big!)
-new workout shoes

Bath and Body Works -- they have so many amazing scents. Candles, wallflowers, car scents, lotions, hand soaps, body washes...

Yes! This was my biggest reward! I worked hard losing my excess weight, and picked up a ton of OT shifts to pay for it. It’s so worth every ache & pain from working out, every extra minute on the job, and every time I’ve made the healthy choice as to what I put in my mouth. Yay for big rewards!

Shopping!!!!!

I've had to buy new underwear twice in the last month. Now that I'm in a normal size, I'm buying pretty undies, with lace etc. vs. "granny panties"!

Hardly a week goes by before I find myself driving into the Ross or T.J. Max plaza!! 🤣

Thanks for all the ideas! I brainstormed with my husband last night and another good one he suggested was family photos! I love this because it’s something that has meaning and will last. Will probably save this for closer to goal weight.

I also use things that I want such as to try a new makeup or day trips as inspiration. Home decor, such as new bedding, painting a room, or wall hanging that I want and would usually just buy/do I set a goal and work on it.

+ 1

I'd add:

  • vacation someplace hot where you can wear a bikini with your smaller bod (pending pandemic restrictions)
  • new wedding ring/engagement ring (to fit your smaller fingers)...and if you don't have one to replace, just get one anyway! Or any other piece of sparkly thing
  • tattoo (i've already decided that I'm going to get one once the parlours open up! mid-life crisis, anyone??? lol)
  • hair extensions (to add fullness to your weight-loss related hair thinning)
  • fancy new underwear/lingerie that you have no intention of actually wearing for very long LOLOLOLzzzz

I bought myself a snowboard. I haven't gone in about 10 years because my weight got too high. I can't wait to go again.

When I am down 100lb, I'm having a mini spa "day" (may be more than a day depending on when I can get appointments). An esthetician friend of mine said she would gift me a facial, waxing, and pedicure, and I also plan on getting a massage and a haircut.

My goal is 120lb down... I'm not sure what I'm going to do at goal yet.

31lb till -100... 😁

I set mine in increments, so like reward at -50, then -75, -100.

Currently I’m -46 so come on -50!

My rewards list:

New hair day

New tattoo day

clothes shopping

And for my husband and I both (he only has 30lbs to lose of course lol) we want an exercise bike to add to our home gym.

Yep, a new hair day for sure, though I don't think I'm going to tie it to a specific weight-loss goal. It'll be more like, "I'm 2 months out, it's time for a haircut to hide the thinning!"

When I'm down 200 lbs, I'm gonna go to Thailand to get all the excess skin removed.

OH BUT THEN...

I'm taking a month long trip to Scotland, Ireland, and England to explore my ancestral roots...
also to find myself a super kind, intelligent, kilt wearing, whiskey drinking, log throwing, red beard (with streaks of gray) having, social justice oriented, two full sleeve tattoo having HUSBAND that laughs from the depths of his belly.

It's happening, people. It's. Happening.

Why Thailand ... is it cheaper there?

There are some good plastic/cosmetic surgeons in Thailand, a lot of have undertaken fellowships in USA, Australia and elsewhere. While cheaper in Thailand (when compared to Australia), over the last few years pre-covid, the price gap started closing, but definitely still worthwhile considering as long as due diligence is undertaken for surgeon/hospital.

As an example, price list from a Medical Tourism agent (prices in Thai Baht, AUD, NZ)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
