How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?

When I started this journey back in the summer, based on recommendations here and other places, I got the RENPHO smart scale. I'm very happy with it so far. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083S5W3PD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Did some reading on this one, the scale itself got pretty good reviews (the app however does not)...weight to the 100th lb on the device itself...exactly what I was looking for! If this had been available back when I was looking for one, it would have definitely been a contender.

Edited to add: Hmmm.....I see that there are actually more scales now out there with weight displays to 2 decimal points!

Well thanks to you all, and an Amazon Black Friday sale, I actually weigh myself TWICE each morning now! I haven't been able to hook my scale to bluetooth (either of them....grrrrr) but I will ask my son to figure it out tomorrow. I have a Fitbit scale and the Renphro and they are weighing consistently, although this morning the Renphro was 0.1 favorable, so that's the weight I went with!! LOL

For those that don’t have a Renpho, hop on Amazon and grab one! Can’t beat the price. This is what it looks like on my phone. Just have to open the app on your phone then step on scale. So easy!

I should get one. They're incredible affordable.

For those of you who weigh every day, how many pounds gain do you accept until the alarm bell goes off?

I'd say 3 pounds is the alarm bell for me.

I weigh myself once a week, except this week, I weighed twice and was disappointed. Still lost, but not as much as I had hoped. Sticking to once a week from now on.

Every. Single. Day.

100% of the time when I stop weighing, it’s because I don’t want to see what it’s going to say. As a result, over the past 3-4 years I’ve gained 60 pounds, in 5-10 pound increments during periods of not stepping on the scale. Sigh. So, I’m back to daily weights.

I have been worried about this, and am going to preventatively have my husband do the same! I am going to weigh myself Tuesday morning when I start the liquid diet, the morning of surgery in 15 days (eeeeek!) and then monthly after that. I don’t want to fall into the trap of measuring “success” in that way from the beginning!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
